With the Jaguars and Titans out of playoff contention, pride is the only thing on the line this Sunday. However, after their respective Week 13 performances, we can’t leave the Jags out of our NFL picks.
They will be without quarterback Trevor Lawrence after he was knocked out by a dirty play from the Texans. It was a poor end to the game, but the Jags stuck on gamely in the 23-20 loss, and it proved they’re good enough to compete against much better teams.
“It was a dirty hit,” said tight end Evan Engram, who shoved Azeez Al-Shaair after the play. “Obviously those hits are always in question. Trevor was going down and I saw it out of my peripheral [vision]. I got a pretty clear view of it, and in that moment, just [reacted on] instincts. It just didn’t feel like a clean hit, so just go stick up for my quarterback.”
Trevor Lawrence carted off the field after taking a violent head shot and displaying the “fencing position” indicative of a traumatic brain injury.

Not having Lawrence at QB is a concern, but against a Titans team without much going their way, the Jags could muscle up and score the upset.
Momentum isn’t with the Titans, who are 3-9 following a one-sided 42-19 loss to the Washington Commanders. It was another poor effort from the Titans, who have done nothing but disappoint in 2024.
Boasting just one home win, playing at Nissan Stadium isn’t a great deal of help, and we can’t back them at the -5 line. That’s too many points to give up with NFL spread odds, so we’re opting for the underdog.

Our NFL game predictions have under 40 points between the Jaguars and Titans, as it should be a tough defensive battle.
Points are never easy to come by for the Jags and Titans. Jacksonville scored 20 points against Houston last week and the Titans scored just 19 against Washington, with 12 of those points coming in the second half.
We haven’t been overly impressed with Titans’ QB Will Levis, and although he scored two touchdowns in Week 13, he had only 212 yards. That’s not going to score many points against Jacksonville, which has a good defense on its day.
