Los Angeles Rams Game-by-Game Predictions

“Run it back!” The Los Angeles Rams chanted repeatedly during their championship parade through Tinseltown in February as they celebrated their Super Bowl 56 win over the Cincinnati Bengals with thousands of adoring fans lining the streets.

Winning back-to-back Super Bowls is no mean feat. It hasn’t been done since the New England Patriots did it nearly 20 years ago (Super Bowl 38 and 39), although three teams (including the Patriots) have tried and failed in the last decade – the Seattle Seahawks (W 2013, L 2014), the Patriots (W 2016, L 2017), and the Kansas City Chiefs (W 2019, L 2020).

Whether the Rams can be the next team to repeat largely depends on how well they perform in the regular season. After all, the first step to glory is to make the playoffs.

The good news is that the betting outlook is optimistic. The Rams are held in high regard, tipped among the Top 5 in the NFC Conference and Super Bowl LVI futures markets. They’re also the team to beat in the NFC West, priced at +125, and they’re projected to a 10½ win-total with the OVER juiced to -120.

Los Angeles Rams Game-By-Game Preview & Predictions

Week 1 vs Buffalo Bills – Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, 8:20 p.m. ET

The Rams vs. Bills matchup is listed as a potential Super Bowl LVII matchup at the sportsbook exchange and it’s a popular bet among fans. Week 1 of the NFL season is a good distance away from The Big Game at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday, February 13, 2023, but it’ll serve as a nice early preview of what might be in the cards later on. It’s not unreasonable to expect either side to win this season opener, but let’s chalk this down as a home win.

Prediction: Win

Record: 1-0

Week 2 vs Atlanta Falcons – Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, 4:05 p.m. ET

This is a matchup of sides that are probably headed in opposite directions in 2022. Expect the Rams to take the straightforward win at SoFi Stadium.

Prediction: Win

Record: 2-0

Week 3 @ Arizona Cardinals –Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Rams can’t underestimate the Cardinals, though they’ll be without De’Andre Hopkins due to a six-game suspension. The Cardinals split the regular-season series with the Rams last season after shocking the eventual champions 37-20 in Week 4 at SoFi Stadium. The Rams won the next two games, including their Wild-Card clash in the playoffs. The Cards will be looking to atone for those defeats and knowing they can beat the Rams will go a long way here. It’s a tossup, but this is as good as any spot for an early-season stumble.

Prediction: Loss

Record: 2-1

Week 4 @ San Francisco 49ers – Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, 8:15 p.m. ET

The way experts and markets are talking up Trey Lance, one would think the Niners unearthed their own equivalent of Patrick Mahomes in the 2021 NFL draft. Not to be a Debbie Downer, but it’s a case of needing to see it to believe it. The idea that Lance will seamlessly pick up from where Jimmy Garoppolo left off is a bit rich. It’s asking a lot of a kid that has played TWO NFL games and 17 College Football games. The Rams lost the last six contests with the Niners in the regular season. It ends here.

Prediction: Win

Record: 3-1

Week 5 vs Dallas Cowboys – Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Cowboys can be trusted (for the most part) to beat weaker opponents. They do it often enough, especially in their division which has earned the unfortunate nickname “the NFC Least.” Whenever the Cowboys come up against legitimate contenders and/or elite quarterbacks, they invariably fail. Thus, a Rams win is the most likely outcome in this matchup.

Prediction: Win

Record: 4-1

Week 6 vs Carolina Panthers – Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, 4:05 p.m. ET

Wins in the NFL are not guaranteed. That said, when faced with a so-called winnable game – on paper – there’s really no excuse not to win. In other words, this is the Rams’ game to win. Matt Rhule seems to be playing a never-ending game of quarterback musical chairs to the detriment of the Panthers. This year, the quarterback battle involves Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold and rookie Matt Corrall. Enough said.

Prediction: Win

Record: 5-1

Week 7 BYE WEEK

Week 8 vs San Francisco 49ers – Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

Sean McVay flips the script on his rival Kyle Shanahan and the Rams sweep the series for the first time since 2018.

Prediction: Win

Record: 6-1

Week 9 @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Rams stunned Tom Brady and the Buccaneers twice in 2021. They handed the then-reigning Super Bowl champions the 34-24 defeat at SoFi Stadium in Week 3. Then they eliminated the Bucs in the playoffs behind a narrow 30-27 win in the Divisional Round. One has to think the Bucs will be looking for payback in this one at Raymond James Stadium.

Prediction: Loss

Record: 6-2

Week 10 vs Arizona Cardinals – Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

McVay owned the Cards 8-0 ahead of the 2021 season, sweeping the series each year since taking over as the Rams’ skipper in 2017. However, he was blindsided in their first meeting at SoFi Stadium last season as the Cards went on to clinch their first win in the Kingsbury era (1-4). Although the Rams eventually finished with the 2-1 head-to-head edge in 2021, the Cards made their presence felt. This series is likely to split again and seeing as we’ve chalked the first meeting to the Cardinals (see Week 3), let’s put this one down as a home win.

Prediction: Win

Record: 7-2

Week 11 @ New Orleans Saints – Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, 1 p.m. ET

Sean Payton’s Saints were the quintessential dangerous floaters. Case and point: they swept the Buccaneers and beat the Packers in 2021. Will the Dennis Allen-led Saints be as good? Who knows? Will Jameis Winston be up to snuff? Who knows? Will the defense play as good as it looks on paper? Who knows. Too many unknowns to bet against the Rams.

Prediction: Win

Record: 8-2

Week 12 @ Kansas City Chiefs – Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, 4:25 p.m. ET

It’s too simple to write off the Chiefs because players like Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu left in the offseason. So long as Mahomes is at the helm of the Chiefs, they present a formidable challenge. No ifs or buts about it. And if you add to that the daunting prospect of playing at Arrowhead Stadium in the freezing cold of November….well, the likelihood of a Rams win does diminish. This is a big ask, even for the reigning champs.

Prediction: Loss

Record: 8-3

Week 13 vs Seattle Seahawks – Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022, 4:05 p.m. ET

The Seattle Seahawks figure to be the worst team in the NFC West this season. Enough said.

Prediction: Win

Record: 9-3

Week 14 vs Las Vegas Raiders – Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, 8:15 p.m. ET

If one buys into the Raiders hype, then this game could go either way. That said, as fantastic the Raiders offense looks on paper, Derek Carr can blow hot and cold from game to game. He’s also the kind of quarterback that defenses love to rattle. The Rams defense could have a field day here.

Prediction: Win

Record: 10-3

Week 15 @ Green Bay Packers – Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, 8:15 p.m. ET

Taking on the Packers at Lambeau Field in primetime Monday Night Football in the middle of December is a big ask, especially at this point in the season when playoff seeding is likely to be on the line.

Prediction: Loss

Record: 10-4

Week 16 vs Denver Broncos – Sunday, Dec. 25, 2022, 4:30 p.m. ET

The Broncos with Russell Wilson are hoping to accomplish what the Rams did with Matthew Stafford last year and, arguably, what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did with Tom Brady in 2020 – that’s winning a Super Bowl in their first year together. Aaron Donald and the Rams defense might have something to say about that though – at least as far as this game is concerned.

Prediction: Win:

Record: 11-4

Week 17 @ Los Angeles Chargers – Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, 8:20 p.m. ET

Although this is listed as an “away” game, it’s technically a home game with the Rams and Chargers sharing the state-of-the-art SoFi Stadium. With home advantage canceled out, it’s a bit of a tossup. The Rams are a great team. While the Chargers are on the way to becoming great. Justin Herbert is one of the most exciting young players in the game and the Bolts are legitimate contenders thanks to his stellar play. If they’re going to take a step forward, this is the kind of game they’ll need to win.

Prediction: Loss

Record: 11-5

Week 18 @ Seattle Seahawks – Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, TBD

The Rams complete the series sweep over the Seahawks for the second straight season.

Prediction: Win

Record: 12-5

Pick: Over 10½ (-120)
