Commanders Loom Large as Home Underdogs
The upstart Washington Commanders face their toughest test as they host the Buffalo Bills. Despite being 2-0, the Commanders are 6.5-point underdogs. Buffalo is coming off a beatdown of Las Vegas and remains a Super Bowl contender per its NFL future odds. But this team, as dominant as it can be, can be tripped up. And it’s worth betting that these new Commanders can do it.
Bills are Bullies: Stand Up To Them
The Bills are bullies. They will crush teams unless they fight back and give them a hard time. Since 2021, Buffalo is 5-10 in games decided by seven points or fewer. And even if it is this core’s fourth season together, the Week 1 loss showed that this is still the same old team.

Josh Allen is a quarterback that can do it all. But he’s still prone to making costly errors. And the Bills’ running game, despite putting up numbers against a porous Raiders’ defense, is nothing special. On the defensive end, Buffalo’s pass rush is “mid” at best. If safety Micah Hyde also misses the game, the secondary will take a big blow.
This is a team that is a juggernaut up front but has a soft underbelly. It’s why we’d rather go against NFL expert picks against the spread siding with Buffalo.
Commanders are Ready To Break the Mold
Yes, a change in ownership can have a tremendous effect on an organization. Just a few months after the end of the Daniel Snyder saga, we’re already seeing a team reborn. Sure, wins over Arizona and Denver are nothing to brag about. But it’s the manner in which Washington did it: by overcoming deficits and making the right plays in the fourth quarter.
Sam Howell is proving to be a formidable quarterback. The second-year player has thrown for more than 500 yards with three touchdowns despite playing behind a shoddy offensive line. Washington’s linemen are not supposed to be this bad. If they can get it together, Howell will cook.
One thing I like about Sam Howell’s game: He’s not very tall (6’1), but looks comfortable throwing MOF. Here he is standing tall in a collapsing pocket and absolutely ripping it btwn the safeties. pic.twitter.com/MV2eWj2uN8

The defense has also been clutch. They forced four turnovers and stuffed Russell Wilson’s two-point conversion to clinch the victory over Denver. Sure, the team has plenty of holes to fix. But there is a winning spirit here that makes this worth betting online.
Buffalo Nearly Flawless Against Washington
Since Washington defeated Buffalo in Super Bowl 26, the Bills have an 8-1 record against the Commanders. Washington’s only victory came during the 2015 season when it was a two-point underdog.

Bills vs Commanders Game Prediction
Predicted Score: Commanders 23 Bills 20
Give us Washington and the Points
Buffalo is still one of the best NFL teams. They still make mistakes, though, and the Commanders have an experienced defense, and a raucous fanbase, to exploit that. FedEx Field will be loud and make it harder for the Bills to communicate. Once the errors happen, Washington will take advantage and be one of the best NFL bets Sept. 24.
Pick: Washington Commanders +6.5 (-105)
Take the Dog Shot on the Commanders
This is no reckless suggestion with our free NFL picks and parlays that Washington will outright beat Buffalo. But at +265, it’s worth putting something small on. Washington has enough playmakers on both sides of the ball and a real home turf advantage to give it the push it needs.
