NFL Betting: NFC Rundown Week 13

The NFC continues to get tighter as the regular season starts to come towards a close. As always, there were a ton of fascinating storylines that may have already caught your attention from last week – including the Denver Broncos quarterback situation. Their opponent in that game happened the be the New Orleans Saints, who kick off our first online betting matchup in this week’s NFC rundown.

New Orleans  Saints vs Atlanta Falcons

NFL Odds: Saints -3

The Saints were able to dominate the Broncos in their last matchup but that was due to Denver starting a practice squad wide receiver at the quarterback position. Nonetheless, the New Orleans defense has played lights out over the past few games and now ranks first in the NFL in total defense. Their offense has been slightly suspect, though, without Drew Brees. This will be a huge test for them as they play a hot Atlanta Falcons team that ran the Las Vegas Raiders out of the building with their huge 43-6 win.

The battle between these two teams are always a fun and entertaining rivalry to tune into and this week is no exception. Taysom Hill will need to improve as a passer if they want to extend drives and move the ball down the field. They cannot allow Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and Calvin Ridley to get it going on the offensive side of the football or else this can be a huge upset game.

Pick: Saints -3

Detroit Lions vs Chicago Bears

NFL Odds: Bears -3

The Detroit Lions were absolutely embarrassed by the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving in 41-25 home loss. They were terrible on all three levels on the defensive side of the football and weren’t able to get their offense going against the 30th-ranked Houston defense. Normally, all of those signs could point to another loss this week. However, they fired head coach Matt Patricia, which might create a spark, and their opponent has struggled equally in the last few games.

The Bears were smoked by the Green Bay Packers 41-25 last week. Chicago went back to Mitchell Trubisky for that game and got just as little offensive success as they had with Foles. This is going to be a low scoring, intense division game that will come down to the wire. Chicago has the overall better team than Detroit and should feel a little flame under them after their fifth straight loss.

Sportsbook Pick: Bears -3

New York Giants vs Seattle Seahawks

NFL Odds: Seahawks -7.5

The New York Giants pulled off their third consecutive win this past week after their victory over the Cincinnati Bengals 19-17. However, they lost their starting quarterback Daniel Jones due to a hamstring injury and the team is bracing for him to miss multiple games. This means that Colt McCoy will be taking over the starting job for this game against the 32nd-ranked defense of the Seattle Seahawks. Although the matchup looks good on paper, Seattle has had a number of close calls in recent weeks. Beating the Philadelphia Eagles 23-17 and racking up five sacks to go along with an interception was nice but most expected a bigger win.

The true difference between these two teams though is the Seahawk’s offense and the Giant’s defense. Seattle has a true MVP candidate at quarterback with Russell Wilson and a dangerous receiving corps with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. They are going to stretch the Giants defense out all game long and unfortunately, the Giants won’t be able to keep up with the amount of points that Seattle can put up. Seattle should be able to cover the spread in this matchup.

Pick: Seahawks -7.5

Los Angeles Rams vs Arizona Cardinals

NFL Odds: Rams -3

The Los Angeles Rams were upset last week by the San Francisco 49ers 23-20 despite entering the game on a win streak. They now take a trip to face off against another division opponent in the Arizona Cardinals, who were also upset in their last game by the New England Patriots 20-17. The Rams have been a force on the defensive side of the ball, ranking second in the league in total defense but they have ended up turning the ball over too many times on offense. They are going to have to play very disciplined against a dangerous Cardinals team that will feast on their turnovers due to Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins and their newfound connection this year.

Arizona’s defense has also been improving steadily as the year has gone on despite being without star edge rusher Chandler Jones; he was injured earlier in the season. This game will come down to which team wants it more, and with both teams coming off bad losses, it should fuel the fire even more than before. This game will be very close, Arizona just seems like they may steal this one at home due to their solid performances against division rivals. This is definitely a tossup game though.

Pick: Cardinals +3

Philadelphia Eagles vs Green Bay Packers

NFL Odds: Packers -7

The Eagles have been downright terrible all year and that was on display yet again in their most recent game against the Seahawks. Fans are now pushing for the team to remove Carson Wentz from his starting quarterback position and replace him with Jalen Hurts. It is yet to be known if the coaching staff will make this decision for this matchup, but regardless, this team isn’t in a great spot. They are going up against a Packers squad that killed the Bears in their last matchup and have been led by future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers all season long.

Rodgers should be able to find some openings in the Eagles secondary if Philadelphia continues to send them out on the field. Whichever quarterback ends up getting the start in this matchup, they are going to need to sustain long drives that wear down the Green Bay defense without turning the ball over or it could be another long night for Philadelphia fans. It just doesn’t seem likely as they haven’t had that type of success all season long and there is no reason to believe that they will get there in this matchup.

 Pick: Packers -7
