Bengals (-1½) vs Cowboys (teased down from – 7½)
The Bengals recovered from a slow start against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1, but special teams and kicker Evan McPherson let the side down. Especially toward the end of the game and in overtime as the Bengals succumbed to a 23-20 overtime defeat at home.
Joe Burrow to Ja’Marr Chase to tie the game.
Steelers BLOCK the extra point. It’s Minkah Fitzpatrick getting his hand on it.

It wasn’t the start the AFC champions were aiming for, to put it mildly. But they get a chance to redeem themselves in Jerry’s World this week. The Dallas Cowboys are scrambling to pick up the pieces of their 2022 campaign after it was left in tatters following the serious injury to Dak Prescott in Week 1, which is going to sideline the pricey quarterback for six to eight weeks.
The absence of a proper contingency plan is a point of concern for Dallas. What’s Mike McCarthy’s plan moving forward? Who knows? What we do know is that they’ve named backup quarterback Cooper Rush as their starter for Week 2 and, well … the markets don’t like it. They don’t like it at all.
Lookahead NFL betting lines had the Cowboys as the 2½ -point favorites at home. After Prescott’s injury, the NFL line shot up to the Cowboys +7½. Clearly, it’s the mismatch at the quarterback position, the pronounced gap in quality between Rush and Burrow that has led to this complete about-turn.
Teasing this line down six points would therefore give us Bengals at -1½ and bring us closer to where the market started from initially. Normally, teasing a game that is heavily impacted by an injury is a risky move. But in this case, it might not be.
The Cowboys looked pretty terrible against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, even with Prescott in the game until his fourth-quarter injury. Prescott led the Cowboys to three points on his first drive. And that was all the scoring they could muster in the 19-3 blowout loss.
Pick: Bengals -1½
Commanders (+7) vs Lions (teased up from +1)
The markets are clearly on the fence with the Commanders and Detroit Lions. As is the public if the NFL odds and lines movement were any indication.
Lookahead NFL lines had the Commanders as the -2 favorites before the tables turned after Week 1. Now, the Lions are the -1 home chalk.
It’s not often the Detroit Lions are the favorites on the NFL odds board, but that’s the case here now. Can we trust in the Lions?
The Lions are coming off a topsy-turvy effort against the Philadelphia Eagles where they nearly pulled off the outright upset. Instead they settled on the cover against the spread as the +4½ closing road underdogs.
CARSON WENTZ 🚀 TERRY MCLAURIN

The Commanders are coming off a stoic 28-22 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars that saw Carson Wentz rally his side from behind to snatch the win and cover.
Perhaps, Wentz’s patchy performance contributed to his side’s fall out of betting favor. But maybe allowances could be made seeing as he’s playing with a new team (again) this year. By that same token, though, can we trust in the Commanders?
All told, this is a total toss-up for NFL picks. Either side could take the win here. The Lions are expected to be better in 2022 while the Commanders could be better than most expect them to be. So, with that said, this is a teaser-worthy game because if we can catch points with the Commanders after markets initially projected them as a two-point fave, then it’s a steal bet, surely.
Picks: Commanders +7
