NFL Draft Update: Odds Firming for Bear Market
A year ago, there was a debate on whether Alabama’s Bryce Young or Ohio State’s CJ Stroud would be the top quarterback and top player chosen in the 2023 NFL Draft. Stroud, taken second overall, has easily outperformed Young. When looking at the NFL betting lines, there is no such debate this season. USC’s Caleb Williams is the clear choice to go first overall.
The question remains whether the Chicago Bears will keep the top pick and take Williams or will trade away the top selection for the second year in a row and stick with Justin Fields as the quarterback of the present and the future.

According to the NFL draft odds, Williams and fellow quarterback Drake Maye of North Carolina continue to have the top odds among draft prospects.
Even with New England winning last week, the order of the top three picks hasn’t changed with just four weeks left in the regular season.
When looking at the top players by position, Williams, receiver Marvin Harrison (+1800), offensive lineman Joe Alt (+4500), edge rusher J.T. Tuimoloau (+3500), interior defensive lineman Michael Hall Jr. (+4500), cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry (+7500), tight end Brock Bowers (+6000) and linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (+10000) are the front-runners to go No. 1 overall at their respective position groups, according to the NFL Draft odds.
The 2024 NFL Draft is set for April 25-27 in Detroit.
Quarterbacks Continue to Lead the Way
With all signs pointing toward Southern California’s Caleb Williams and North Carolina’s Drake Maye making themselves available for the 2024 NFL Draft, this could mark the third time in the last four NFL drafts when the quarterbacks go first and second in the draft.

Williams remains priced at -650 by our sportsbook to be the first quarterback selected followed by Maye coming in at +380.
Williams is also showing -650 odds to be the top overall selection with Maye his closest competitor at +450. Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels of LSU has +1800 odds to be the No. 1 overall selection.
It’s a Bear Market
Although Chicago won its second straight game to impact the draft position of its own pick, the Bears are looking better than ever to have the top overall selection thanks to the 2023 trade that sent the No. 1 overall pick to Carolina.
The Panthers lost their sixth straight game to fall to 1-12. Meanwhile, both the New England Patriots won to move into a tie with the Arizona Cardinals with a 3-10 record. When trying to predict the NFL draft, that means that Carolina could still win a game and have the worst record in the NFL.
The question is whether the Bears make a move at quarterback and select Williams since former first-round pick Justin Fields is the Chicago quarterback.
The biggest movement in the top 10 came when the Las Vegas Raiders went from 10th to seventh as the teams picking Nos. 1-6 did not change.
It seems like a foregone conclusion that the Patriots will not go into the 2024 season with Bailey Zappe and Mac Jones as the top options at quarterback.
If things stay like this, the Patriots will have a chance to pick one of the top quarterback prospects without needing to trade up.

What Does Harrison Do?
There has been some chatter that Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is driven by his quest to lead the Buckeyes to a win over rival Michigan. Could that result in Harrison returning to college?
Harrison has the best odds of -300 to be the first non-quarterback selected in the draft.
Florida State defensive end Jared Verse (+350), Penn State offensive tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu (+550), Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt (+900) and UCLA defensive lineman Laiatu Latu (+1000) are other players to keep an eye on.
