Chargers vs Chiefs Same-Game Parlay

Chargers +4 (-110)

The Los Angeles Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs are coming off winning accounts in Week 1, but the latter was more convincing in the delivery against an opponent that was expected to be a lot more challenging than the case proved to be.

The Chiefs were absolutely formidable in the 44-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale. Although the Chiefs were favored, few expected them to be so dominant after all their offseason departures.

No Tyreek Hill. No problem. Patrick Mahomes channeled his MVP-self as he drove the Chiefs down the field and tossed five touchdowns. The Chiefs signal caller put up 360 passing yards and spread the ball across the field as he went 30 of 39 passing with zero interceptions.

After their impressive season opener, it’s not surprising to see the Chiefs favored in their home opener. But laying four points or more for NFL picks against the spread in this matchup does feel like a bit much. Especially considering their opponents.

The Chargers were convincing in a solid win over the Las Vegas Raiders, clinching the 24-19 win at SoFi Stadium. Justin Herbert was sublime as he went 26 of 34 for 279 yards and three touchdowns.

Importantly, Herbert’s performance wasn’t hindered by the untimely departure of wideout Keenan Allen, who exited the game with an injury. Herbert continued to move the offense while finding alternative targets to keep the Chargers on the front foot.

Another important factor is that the Chargers have already shown that they can get the measure of the Chiefs. They split the series last season with each side winning on the road. For Herbert, getting the DUB at Arrowhead was a watershed moment, elevating the then-second-year quarterback into the upper echelons of the quarterback position. Put it this way: Going toe-to-toe with Mahomes to beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead is no mean feat.

A Chargers win can’t be ruled out here, but it won’t be easy this time around either. They can certainly keep this game close to at least cover the point spread, if not pull off the upset. The Chargers’ offense can keep up with the Chiefs, even without Allen. On the flip side, the Chargers have the kind of defense that could give Mahomes headaches – Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack, spearhead a formidable pass rush that will pile on the pressure.

Pick: Chargers +4 (-110)

Over 54 (-110)

If Herbert and Mahomes bring their A-game to this primetime tilt on Thursday Night Football, there’s a good chance it’s going to be a veritable scoring feast that will push the betting online total over the projected number of 54. Heck, this could be the highest-scoring game of the week.

Both quarterbacks put up dizzying numbers and combined for eight touchdowns in their respective Week 1 accounts. They’re bound to showcase that arm talent again in a pivotal game that both sides are going to be invested to win.

Pick: Over 54 (-110)

Two-Team Parlay Prediction:

The two-team parlay, therefore, is combining the Chargers +4 and the over 54, which yields odds of +264 as per the BetUS parlay calculator.
