The total opened at 42 and is already taking under money. The game starts at 9:30 a.m. ET and is in a foreign stadium. These conditions typically lead to low scores, and we’re already talking about the 29th- and 32nd-ranked scoring offenses. Carolina and New York combine to average 30 points. 

Yes, Carolina also features the worst defense in the NFL, partly due to injuries. But the Giants are the worst-scoring team, having hit the 20-point mark just three times this season. On the other end, New York has one of the best defensive lines and can eat Young for frühstück. This is why seven of New York’s last 10 games have gone under the total. That’s the NFL pick.

2. Saints vs Falcons Try To ‘Outdo’ Panthers-Giants

New Orleans is the third-worst NFL team and firing Dennis Allen, which was long overdue, won’t change things other than headlining NFL news. Almost everything is still a mess in New Orleans. And with a glut of injuries to the offense, the Saints could hit a new low if it weren’t for their defense. That’s why we’re betting the total to go under against Atlanta.

The Falcons are 6-3 and are likely winning the NFC South. But we’re not entirely sold on their offense, which has boosted its NFL stats by thumping Tampa Bay twice. Atlanta also lit up Dallas, which is one loss from firing its coaches as well. Against legitimate defenses like Pittsburgh and Kansas City, Atlanta didn’t even score 20 points. 

New Orleans is injury-plagued but still features a solid defense. Ignore the 26th-ranked stat. The Saints are also ranked 10th in turnovers forced (14) and in red-zone conversion rate (50%). They held Atlanta to 315 yards and a turnover in their first matchup. That one totaled 50 points. It won’t happen again given these teams’ current states. Bet the under in NFL predictions.

3. Go Under Total With 49ers vs Buccaneers

The Buccaneers gave their all in trying to end the Chiefs’ unbeaten record. Alas, it ended in heartbreak due to some awful play-calling from coach Todd Bowles. That’s the type of result that can take the wind out of this Bucs’ ship’s sails. And the Bucs get a short rest before hosting San Francisco? Yikes. Instead of betting a side, we’re taking the under.

Tampa Bay has overachieved, especially in light of its injuries. Baker Mayfield is not going to continue putting up MVP-caliber stats without his two stud receivers. The 49ers have not been as daunting on defense but, coming off a bye, San Francisco will be the fresher team. 

We’ve seen the 49ers hold opponents to 20 points or fewer in four of its last five games coming off a bye. In two instances, the 49ers held their opponents to a field goal. As the NFL lines indicate, San Francisco will neutralize Tampa Bay and win.
