NFL Week 16 Game-by-Game Predictions and Picks
Buffalo Bills vs Chicago Bears
Saturday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS
The Bills haven’t done enough yet to take the foot off the pedal here. They’re one win away from taking the AFC East title and likely need to win out to clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC. The Bears are eliminated, and they are the epitome of the walking wounded into this week’s contest. Well, “contest” might be an exaggeration as evinced by the hefty point spread currently trading on the NFL odds board. Don’t be surprised if the Bills cover comfortably in what could turn out to be a total whitewash against a one-dimensional Chicago offense.
- Pick SU: Bills -400
Pick ATS: Bills -9½ (Ev)
New Orleans Saints vs Cleveland Browns
Saturday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS
Neither the Saints nor the Browns is a particularly good team this season. However, they’re both still “alive” in the playoff race – if only just. Deshaun Watson is still trying to shake off the rust, but with a soft schedule and improved performance on the defensive side of the ball, the Browns are enjoying a 3-1 run. Similarly, the Saints are 2-2 SU after capitalizing on soft opposition in recent weeks. This is a coin toss for NFL picks, but don’t count out Andy Dalton and the Saints.
- Pick SU: Saints +125
Pick ATS: Saints +3 (-115)
Houston Texans vs Tennessee Titans
Saturday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS
This is a gut-check game for the hosts. The Titans have lost four on the trot and they need to get back on track in a bad way because the AFC South has suddenly become a closer race than previously thought. The onus will be on rookie quarterback Malik Willis, who is getting his third start of the season, replacing an injured Ryan Tannehill (ankle). Willis and the Titans are the better team, but they can’t take anything for granted. Especially with the Texans refusing to roll over and proving to be a real sweat to bet against.
- Pick SU: Titans -170
Pick ATS: Titans -3 (-120)
Seattle Seahawks vs Kansas City Chiefs
Saturday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX
Nobody expects the Seahawks to defeat the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium and fly the coop with a DUB. But a cover isn’t beyond reason, especially with a double-digit spread hanging tantalizingly on the betting online odds board. Seattle’s charm might have worn off, but it is still competitive and tough to beat. What’s more, the Chiefs tend to play down (or up) to their opponents. The Chiefs haven’t covered in five straight games and bring a 4-9-1 ATS record into Week 16.
- Pick SU: Chiefs -475
Pick ATS: Seahawks +10½ (120)
New York Giants vs Minnesota Vikings
Saturday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX
The Giants and Vikings have one thing in common this season: That is, they keep winning close games and, even, at times, get lucky in the process. Something’s gotta give. Or is it? The Vikings should win this game, but the Giants are the quintessential dangerous floaters that could give bettors pause.
- Pick SU: Vikings -220
Pick ATS: Giants +4 (-110)

Cincinnati Bengals vs New England Patriots
Saturday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS
The Bengals are in fine form right now and go into Week 16 riding a six-game winning streak. It’s no surprise to see the Bengals, therefore, firmly favored on the road against a Patriots side still smarting from one of the most inexplicable defeats of the season – if not in the history of the NFL. But it’s the second road game for Cincy in as many weeks, and a motivated (read desperate) New England might prove to be more than they bargained for at Gillette Stadium.
- Picks SU: Patriots +145
Picks ATS: Patriots +3½ (-120)
Detroit Lions vs Carolina Panthers
Saturday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX
Sam Darnold and the Panthers came crashing back down to earth last Sunday following a 24-16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Is anyone really surprised? Then, there is Jared Goff and the Lions, who are rolling in the back end of the season and coming off a third straight win and sixth overall in their last seven games to improve to a 7-7-0 record. The Lions are in the Wild Card race and need to win out to make the playoffs. Will Dan Campbell’s side keep it rolling In Carolina? The books seem to think so.
- Picks SU: Lions -145
Picks ATS: Lions -3 (Ev)
Atlanta Falcons vs Baltimore Ravens
Saturday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX
The Ravens managed to put up just three points in last week’s loss to the Browns, but they’re laying seven points to the Falcons here. What gives? Yes, rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder hardly impressed in Atlanta’s losing effort in Week 15 and the Falcons’ have issues on the defensive side of the ball, but catching a touchdown seems excessive if the playing field is level. Or is it? The only logical explanation is Lamar Jackson must be starting. Otherwise, this NFL line is too high.
- Pick SU: Baltimore -280
Pick ATS: Falcons +7 (-125)
Washington Commanders vs San Francisco 49ers
Saturday, 4:05 p.m. ET, CBS
Taylor Heinicke and the Commanders might have been robbed late in last week’s loss to the Giants, but the reality is that they couldn’t get it done over the four quarters. So, if they couldn’t get it done against a respectable New York defense, what chance do they have against an elite defense like the Niners? Rookie quarterback Brock Purdy is holding his own, and he’s avoided making costly mistakes despite his NFL inexperience. The Niners are winning no matter who is at quarterback right now, and that’s a luxury few teams can boast. That’s a sign of a program in full bloom.
- Pick SU: 49ers -330
Pick ATS: 49ers -7½ (+105)

Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys
Saturday, 4:25 p.m. ET, FOX
Jalen Hurts has been ruled out, prompting the NFL betting markets to reposition themselves deep into the Cowboys’ camp. But this could be a massive overreaction for a team, whose success is down to the sum total of its parts rather than one individual player. Gardner Minshew starts in place of Hurts and will have the league’s best team around him. That must count for something. Case in point, Dallas managed to navigate several weeks with backup Cooper Rush when Dak Prescott was injured at the start of this season. Surely, the Eagles will be just fine with Minshew at the helm. And who knows, Minshew Magic could enjoy a renaissance.
- Pick SU: Eagles (+190)
Pick ATS: Eagles +4½ (-110)
Las Vegas Raiders vs Pittsburgh Steelers
Saturday, 8:15 p.m. ET, NFL Network
Extreme luck for Las Vegas? Unforgivable carelessness on the part of New England? No matter which way one slices the Raiders’ win last weekend, there is still something fundamentally wrong with them. Dare it be said, fraudulent? Mike Tomlin’s Steelers will be up for this game, especially the defense, which should take the measure of Derek Carr and the Raiders’ O-line.
- Pick SU: Steelers -135
Pick ATS: Steelers -2½ (-110)
Green Bay Packers vs Miami Dolphins
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX
The Dolphins have lost three straight games on the road against potential Super Bowl contenders. On paper, this looks like a get-right game for Miami against a Packers team that has failed to live up to expectations. However, things are rarely as they seem, especially when a desperate Green Bay is involved, led by two-time reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers. At this point in the season, experience counts a lot. Rodgers has been there and done it. For the Dolphins, it’s uncharted territory as they cling to a Wild Card spot in the AFC. This could be a stumbling block for the once-soaring Dolphins.
- Pick SU: Packers +170
Pick ATS: Packers +4 (-110)
Denver Broncos vs Los Angeles Rams
Sunday, 4:30 p.m. ET, CBS
Don’t blame the NFL schedulers for choosing the Broncos vs Rams for the main course on Christmas Day’s tripleheader menu. They couldn’t possibly have anticipated just how meaningless this game would be at this stage of the season. But we are where we are. Baker Mayfield crashed back down to earth with a thud in last week’s loss to the Packers. It’s hard to trust the Rams, even though they are at home for the holidays. The Broncos’ defense is good and that has many NFL bettors buying what Denver is selling. But can the Broncos be trusted? Call it a nagging feeling, but when everyone zigs, then it might be better to zag.
- Pick SU: Rams +130
Pick ATS: Rams +2½ (Ev)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Arizona Cardinals
Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET, NBC
Every time Tom Brady and the Buccaneers appear to get back on track, they fall off. For various reasons, they seem to have a hard time staying on track – be it down to bad plays or poor play-calling and decision-making by Todd Bowles. The good news: The Cardinals careened off the track a long time ago, although it’s debatable whether they were ever on track at all. Arizona’s campaign was a trainwreck right from the start and it couldn’t be over fast enough.
- Pick SU: Buccaneers -370
Pick ATS: Buccaneers -9 (+105)
Los Angeles Chargers vs Indianapolis Colts
Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN
The team that just emerged on the wrong side of history, giving up a 33-0 lead to lose 39-36, is merely a four-point underdog at home or thereabouts. What’s the catch? The Los Angeles Chargers are making a final push for the postseason and this is a game they absolutely must win to hold on to their Wild Card spot.
- Pick SU: Chargers -220
Pick ATS: Chargers -4½ (-110)
