NFL Week 7 Teaser Basket (6-pt Teasers)

Current Line —> Teaser Leg

  • Cowboys -7 —> tease down to -1
  • Colts +2½ —> tease up to +8½
  • Bengals -7 —> tease down to -1
  • Ravens -6½ —> tease down to -½
  • Buccaneers -13 —> tease down to -7
  • Raiders -7½ —> tease down to -1½
  • Niners +2 —> tease up to +8
  • Patriots -9 —> tease down to -3

Lions vs Cowboys -7 —> Tease Cowboys down to -1

Dak is back! Dak is back! And so, the NFL betting markets have responded in kind, raising the NFL line to a touchdown in anticipation of the return of Dallas’ prized quarterback, Dak Prescott, who returns after a five-week absence.

The Cowboys managed to go 4-2 straight up (SU) without Prescott playing in five of their six games. The fact that they didn’t suffer for it is a testament to the solid play of backup quarterback Cooper Rush, the stout defense and solid coaching.

It’s true that the Cowboys’ offense can be more explosive with Prescott at the helm, but expecting him to jump back into play seamlessly without showing any rust in the process might be expecting a lot.

Granted in anticipation of a date against the Detroit Lions (1-4), who aren’t living up to expectations in Dan Campbell’s second year (yet), the Cowboys rightly are favored. The Cowboys’ offense should have plenty of space to work with against a Lions defense that does a very good imitation of the biblical parting of the Red Sea. But Jared Goff and the Lions’ offense are more than capable of putting up the points. They’ll struggle against a tough Cowboys D, but It wouldn’t be surprising if they sneak in the backdoor cover.

Thus, if laying a touchdown with the Cowboys feels risky, teasing it down to a more manageable -1-point spread is appealing.

  • Pick: Ravens -1

Browns vs Ravens – 6 ½ —> Tease Ravens down to -½

If you can trust the Ravens (3-3) not to collapse late in the game, by all means then go ahead and lay the 6½ points on Lamar Jackson and cross your fingers for good measure.

For the rest, teasing this line down to a manageable -½ –point spread – which is essentially a pick’em – might be the best strategy. Of course, that’s assuming the Ravens don’t cough up the win (yes, looking at you Lamar) and lose outright as they did last week against the New York Giants.

The only thing that the Ravens might have going for them here is the fact that the Cleveland Browns (2-4) strike an even less convincing pose. Speaking off coughing up wins, Jacoby Brissett has played his part in the Browns’ decline.

Both these teams have a ton of talent but play unpredictable football. It could be a close affair or a total blowout. Push comes to shove, teasing down the Ravens is the better move.

  • Pick: Ravens -½

Texans vs Raiders -7½ —> Tease Raiders down to -1½

It’s not often that a 1-4 straight up team is laying a whopping 7½ points, but that’s the case in the clash between the Houston Texans (1-3-1) and the Las Vegas Raiders (1-4). Are the Raiders to be trusted with that many points?

It’s going to take a brave bettor to back the Raiders for NFL picks against the spread at that number. Nothing about the Raiders has inspired confidence, even though they reckon to have one of the more talented rosters in the game. So far, the sum total of that talent hasn’t connected in a cohesive or consistent manner.

On the flip side, this hefty spread severely underrated Lovie Smith’s defense, which has played rather well through the first five weeks. The Texans held the Indianapolis Colts offense to a 20-20 tie in their season opener, spoiling Matt Ryan’s debut for the Colts.

The defense gave Russell Wilson and Justin Fields fits in narrow defeats to the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears. They also gave Justin Herbert a run for his money before the Chargers ran away with the game 34-24.

The Texans are coming off a win against the Jacksonville Jaguars – their first win of the season. They’ll be keen to build on that result when they descend on the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium.

Maybe the Texans won’t win outright (or will they?), but they can certainly make a fist of it against a team that might be all smoke and mirrors than many first thought.

  • Pick: Raiders -1½
  • Two-Team Teaser: Combine two of the above
  • Three-Team Teaser: Cowboys -1, Ravens -½ and Raiders -1½
