NFL Week 8 Upset of the Week – Steelers vs Eagles
Steelers Face Uphill Battle
The Pittsburgh Steelers (2-5) face an uphill battle against the Philadelphia Eagles (6-0) in Week 8, as the pair collide in a much-anticipated battle of Pennsylvania at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday.
Predictably, the Eagles are tipped as the runaway favorites across the NFL odds board. They’re priced as the -475 favorites on the Moneyline compared to the Steelers, who are priced as an afterthought at +375 to win outright.

The point spread is an eye-popping 10½ points, albeit the Steelers are juiced at -115 to cover the spread. The total, in the meanwhile, is set to 43 points with the Over and Under juiced to -110, respectively.
It’s fair to say that the odds are well and truly stacked against Mike Tomlin’s side. Therefore, few expect the Steelers to deliver the sort of outright upset that would figuratively send seismic shockwaves through the betting online markets. But does that mean bettors should write off the Steelers in point spread betting, too?
Read on for the Steelers vs Eagles game preview and NFL predictions below. We discuss why the Steelers will deliver the upset for NFL picks against the spread. all while reviewing the latest stats, injury reports, and NFL odds.

Pickett Era in Full Swing
Rookie QB Kenny Picket has yet to lead his side to victory. The closest the rookie came to doing so, was in his start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Unfortunately, he was taken out of the game when he suffered a hit to the head. Backup Mitch Trubisky finished the game and, thus, he took the plaudits that came along with the notable upset.
The Steelers are coming off a 16-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 7, a game that saw them deliver the mini upset by covering as the 7-point road underdogs. It marked their second straight cover as the hefty underdogs in as many weeks – the Steelers covered as the +9½ home underdogs in the 20-18 win over the Bucs.
Things did get interesting toward the end of the game as the Steelers came close to pulling off the outright upset in Miami. But Pickett threw his third interception as his pass was picked off on the goal line.
The Steelers are 2-5-0 against the spread this season with a 7.9 losing margin on average.

Eagles Undefeated Run On the Line
The Eagles return to action after a bye They’re the lone undefeated team in the league as well as the heavy favorites to clinch the No. 1 seed in the conference.
The last time we saw Jalen Hurts and Co,.was in Week 6 Sunday Night Football versus the Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field, in a game that they romped to a 26-17 win.
The Eagles were up 20-0 before Cooper Rush and the Cowboys offense perked up. The Eagles defense was instrumental in the victory, intercepting Rush twice to set up Hurts and the O-line with short fields to work with.
In the second half, things did get a little too close for comfort when the Cowboys scored 17 unanswered points to narrow the gap to three early in the fourth quarter. But Hurts responded with a touchdown drive that all but sealed the win.
The Eagles are not only 6-0 straight up but they’re also a solid 4-2-0 against the spread with a 9.3 winning margin on average.

Steelers vs Eagles Betting Verdict
At the face of it, this is a mismatch between teams heading in different directions. So, it’s no surprise that the NFL betting markets are cornered with the Eagles wholeheartedly. Moreover, they’re likely to be the popular pick, too.
Sometimes good teams will lose to teams they have no business losing to. The Eagles will be keen to avoid this trap as they come out of a restful bye. What makes the Steelers a potential dangerous floater is the fact that at their core, they’re not a bad team.
Pickett has a way to go but there’s an excitement about his game that is contagious. The Steelers offense is better with him as the offensive pivot. The Steelers defense is solid too. They’re also coming off their best two games this season without their talisman T.J. Watt.
The Eagles can’t take the Steelers for granted as such. Perhaps, the Eagles will win this game as the NFL odds suggest. But the Steelers could throw a spanner in the works with a cover.
Pick: Philadelphia Eagles -475
Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers +10½ (-110)
