This is an exciting NFC North clash between two sides headed for the playoffs again.

Our first NFL expert pick against the spread for this NFC North clash is for the Packers to keep this within at least a field goal. I love grabbing this point spread above the key number of 3 on Thursday night.
Detroit is 9-3 against the spread this season and 23-9 since the start of last season. They have gone 19-8 ATS as a favorite, but I’m fading the trends again after fading the Lions on Thanksgiving. The Lions just squeaked by the Bears last week, winning by just 3 points as 10-point favorites. The line has moved in the Packers’ favor despite them playing on the road for this massive clash. These two squared off in Week 9 and Detroit walked away with a 24-14 win at Lambeau. This time, the difference is the growing list of injuries across the Lions’ defense.
On defense, Aidan Hutchinson, Alex Anzalone, Derrick Barnes, Jalen Reeves-Maybin, Ennis Rakestraw, Ifeatu Melifonwu, Malcolm Rodriguez, Marcus Davenport, Mekhi Wingo, are all on injured reserve. Carlton Davis, Levi Onwuzurike, DJ Reader and Josh Pascal are all questionable. That’s a full laundry list of defense players missing for Detroit.
Green Bay outpaced Detroit in that game by 150 total yards and a pick-6 by the Lions was the difference in the spread in that one. Count on the Packers in this divisional matchup to take care of business in NFL game predictions.

BetUS Sportsbook has set the total for this game at 51 points. We will take the under. The Packers have leaned heavily on the run game this season. Running back Josh Jacobs, a free agent signing this offseason, has proven extremely valuable to the Green Bay offense. The Packers are scoring touchdowns at a high clip (73% of red zone trips), but the Lions’ defense should do their part to hold them to field goals. Only the Eagles have run the ball more than Green Bay since Week 11, and the Packers are averaging the third-fewest plays per game.
Head coach Matt LaFleur has adopted a slow, methodical approach on offense, which will help keep the clock running, and the electric Lions offense on the sideline for extended stretches. To stay under the number, the Packers defense must slow down the Lions and they should be up to the task. Green Bay is tenth in EPA allowed per play and held the Lions offense to 17 points in the previous meeting.
