The Philadelphia Stars finished second in the North Division with a 6-4 record. The New Jersey Generals finished with a stellar 9-1 record, stringing together a nine-game winning streak to claim the North title.
This semifinal is a repeat of the Week 10 clash between the Stars and Generals. New Jersey won that contest, 26-23, to come through as the betting favorite, according to the USFL odds.
Considering the absence of historical data, it’s rather handy that these sides met in the final week. The game acts as a handy preview that bettors can lean on for the USFL picks.
Although the victory was narrow, the Generals showed their quality to extend their unbeaten run and finish the season on a high. It also marked their second straight win over the Stars after taking the 24-16 win in Week 3.
The Generals led the league with 349.4 yards per game. That offensive dominance proved deciding against the Stars as they outgained their division rivals 410 yards to 328.
In other statistical categories, the Generals proved they were better as well. They’re the top team in rushing offense and defending against the rush. The Generals outrushed the Stars 178 yards to 84 yards. They averaged a solid 7.1 yards per rush.
Overall, the Generals are second in defense with 273.3 yards per game allowed. Only the Stallions are better on defense.
Where the Stars have a slight advantage is with the league’s top-scoring offense that is averaging 26.2 points per game. That advantage is seriously undone by a defense that finished sixth overall with 194.6 yards per game allowed.

Stars vs Generals Prediction
The Stars can take the lessons of both their losses to the Generals and change tact in this game. If they do so, they have a shot at the upset. However, if the Generals control possession as they did in week 10, the Stars will face an uphill battle. By all accounts, the Generals should win this game quite convincingly.
