Moneyline: Raiders +125 | Browns -145
The Raiders are the only team to have beaten the Kansas City Chiefs and they did it on the road. The Browns are 5-2 but if you look at whom the Browns have beaten this season, only the Indianapolis Colts rate as an especially impressive win. The Browns have beaten the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Football Team, and the Cincinnati Bengals twice for their other four wins. The Raiders have played the Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and New Orleans Saints, splitting those four games. The Raiders have played a tough schedule, and while they haven’t always won, they have competed quite well. The Raiders – one can legitimately argue – have fared better against their schedule than Cleveland has against its slate of opponents. Cleveland is beating the teams it is supposed to beat, which is a clear – and big – improvement for this group. It’s considerable progress under Kevin Stefanski. However, Cleveland shouldn’t beat the Raiders. Las Vegas is a better team, so take it on the online betting moneyline.
Pick: Raiders to win
Point Spread: Raiders +2
The Raiders should win outright, which means they’ll cover as well, since they are a slight underdog. Need more of an explanation as to why the Raiders will win? Start with Odell Beckham being out for the seasons. Against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Browns didn’t need Beckham. However, the Raiders are not the Bengals. The Raiders are a lot better and will take advantage of Beckham’s absence. The fact that the Raiders contained Patrick Mahomes should give them confidence against Baker Mayfield. The Raiders won’t shut down Mayfield, but they won’t let him bust loose for a 35- or 38-point game. The Raiders have a talented and balanced offense led by Derek Carr. Cleveland’s defense was exposed by Joe Burrow of the Bengals. If Burrow can outplay the Browns’ defense, Derek Carr of the Raiders can, too.
Pick: Raiders to cover
Over/Under: 51 points
Both offenses are capable of lighting up the scoreboard, and the Raiders and Browns are coming off games in which their defenses gave up a lot of points – 45 for the Raiders, 34 for the Browns. This game doesn’t figure to be a complete shootout, it should still be in the upper 20s, and that would still go over the total.
Pick: Over 51
Final Score: LV 30, CLE 27
Props Talk for Raiders at Browns
There are a number of select props in the sportsbook to pounce on in this game. Let’s pick apart three of them:
First Score Of Game: Raiders TD +180
The Raiders were hammered by the Bucs last week. Meanwhile, the Browns’ offense figures to be a little hesitant at the start of the game without Beckham. The Raiders scoring first is a good bet. The Raiders getting a touchdown is the more specific play to make here.
Total Touchdowns In The Game: Over/Under 6½ — Underpriced at -140
There should be five or six touchdowns but will there be seven? The Browns will miss Beckham in red-zone situations and will probably have to settle for more field goals than they would like. The Raiders might be able to score four touchdowns and threaten the over, but Myles Garrett and the Browns will do just enough to limit Vegas to three touchdowns.
First Half Field Goals – Over/Under of 1½ yards: Overpriced at EVEN
The limitations of these offenses – which are good but not great – figure to create a game where the ball is moved a lot, but drives stall in the red zone and lead to field goals. Two field goals in the first half seem like a realistic possibility, one that is good enough to bet on. Go over with these NFL odds.
