Calgary Slightly Favored
The Toronto Argonauts and Calgary Stampeders are aiming for bounce-back performances on Saturday. Toronto, the home team, will be the slight underdog on the CFL football odds. Calgary has won four of its last five visits to Toronto and is 3-1 on the road. These teams have many similarities, including players that have played on both sides.
Litmus Test for Stampeders
As we mentioned earlier, the Stampeders have yet to beat a winning team this season. Their five wins have come against the four teams with losing records as of Week 11. So facing Toronto, a team that is 4-4, is an interesting test for Calgary. The fact that Toronto has many ex-Stampeders makes it even more intriguing.
Head coach Ryan Dinwiddie was once a mentor to Bo Levi Mitchell while defensive coordinator Corey Mace spent over 11 seasons with Calgary as both a player and a coach. Ja’Gared Davis and DaVaris Daniels are also former Stamps.
Calgary boasts one of the best defenses in the CFL, but quarterbacking is an iffy spot. Its biggest edge is consistency. Toronto struggles to string together solid performances while the Stamps find ways to beat the teams they’re supposed to. That makes Calgary a more reliable team to bet online.
Can Toronto Overcome Loss of Harris?
The road to the Grey Cup gets harder for the Argonauts. The Boatmen will need to do it without their leading rusher, Andrew Harris. The Canadian great suffered a pectoral injury that likely ends his season. Without Harris, Toronto will rely on A. J. Ouellette and local guy Daniel Adeboboye.
Most importantly, quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson will have to do a bit more. While he can be inconsistent, Bethel-Thompson is third in the CFL in passing yards and his other stats put him in the upper half among quarterbacks. However, the 10 touchdowns are something that can be improved upon.

The Argonauts’ defense is also solid at limiting opponents’ gains. However, this unit has come apart many times, like against Hamilton last week. Toronto’s defense is also last in turnovers forced and second to last in sacks. It will need to make more plays to help the battered offense.
Stampeders vs Argonauts Head-to-Head
Not only has Calgary won four of its last five games in Toronto, but it has won eight of its last 10 against the Argonauts in general. Calgary dominated and scored 315 points to Toronto’s 169. Calgary also went 6-3-1 against the spread (ATS) as well. The totals went under seven out of 10 times.

Stampeders vs Argonauts Prediction
We’re a little tempted to take the plus-money on Toronto. The Argonauts have been tantalizing in the moments they put it all together. Their defense is a lot better than it looks on the stat sheet and Bethel-Thompson can outplay Mitchell. However, Toronto is too inconsistent for our liking.
The Stampeders’ defense is too good and will force turnovers. Mitchell isn’t the same playmaker he once was, but he’s still good enough to move the chains. Currently, the online gambling lines have Calgary favored by under a field goal. That’s a solid ask so we’re rolling with Calgary.
