2 Steelers vs Eagles Bets You Should Make on Sunday
1. Pittsburgh Steelers ATS +5.5
For two teams that have been very good all season, the 5½ NFL spread seems rather large. Philadelphia has been winning games, but they haven’t exactly been blowing opponents away. Just last week, the Eagles escaped with a 22-16 home win against the three-win Carolina Panthers, but they’re giving 5½ points to the Steelers?
Pittsburgh has lost three games this season, by three, three, and five points. It isn’t going to get blown out by the Eagles, who aren’t exactly lighting up the scoreboard of late.
Yes, Philadelphia has the league’s leading rusher in running back Saquon Barkley, who has 1,623 yards and 11 touchdowns and is on pace to break Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards.
Saquon Barkley’s stats this season:
• 13 games
• 1,623 rush yards (6.1 YPC)
• 267 receiving yards
• 145.4 scrimmage YPG
• 13 total TDsHe’s currently on pace for 2,122 rushing yards, which would be an #NFL record. (Eric Dickerson: 2,105) pic.twitter.com/z8PGiXFAtI

But, he has a tough task ahead of him against a Steelers defense that ranks fourth in the league in rushing yards per game allowed with just 91.5. Barkley did go for 107 yards and a touchdown against the top-ranked defense, Baltimore, just two weeks ago.
With the Steelers focused on Barkley, Jalen Hurts may find it a little easier to get some passes off downfield. But he hasn’t thrown for more than 200 yards in the last three games, and he was sacked four times last week by the Panthers.
Pittsburgh’s defense isn’t going to make it easy on Philadelphia on Sunday, which is why one of our NFL weekly predictions is for the Steelers to cover the spread, win or lose.

2. Steelers vs Eagles Under 43
There’s a major reason why both of these teams are among the favorites for success in the postseason, and that’s defense. Both teams are among the top five in the NFL in scoring defense, with the Eagles tied for second in points allowed per game at 18.0 and the Steelers fifth at 18.3.
A December game in Philadelphia isn’t exactly made for high scoring, especially with these two defenses playing as well as they have.
The Steelers have been better offensively since Russell Wilson took over as the starter at quarterback, though whether he’ll have top receiver George Pickens to throw to is in doubt. Pickens missed last week’s game against Cleveland with a hamstring injury, and coach Mike Tomlin hasn’t sounded optimistic about getting Pickens back this week.
“We’re just in the mindset now of just getting him healthy as quickly as we possibly can,” Tomlin told NFL news outlets on Tuesday. “There’s a potential for this week, but it’s an outside chance. If you press me, I’d probably say he’s out or could be characterized as doubtful as we sit here.”
Wilson passed for just 158 yards against the Browns, though he did have two scoring tosses in the win.
Both defenses are going to be geared up for this game, so don’t expect a high-scoring affair. When you’re making your NFL picks for this massive showdown, go with the under.
