The world is gearing up for Super Bowl 59, which just a few days away. The Super Bowl prop bets, particularly the touchdown prop markets, have become one of the most popular areas for bettors. If you nail the correct player to score the first or last touchdown of the Super Bowl, you will be looking at an excellent payout.

The stage is set for Super Bowl LIX. The storylines are endless for both franchises on Sunday,. There is a potential claim as a true NFL dynasty on the line for the Kansas City Chiefs and an improbable journey for Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles to hoist the Lombardi Trophy and etch their name in the history books.
The Chiefs and Eagles are bound to deliver a classic, and many will scramble to figure out who will score the historic touchdowns in Super Bowl 59.
I’ve done all the research, so you don’t have to. These are the best Super Bowl picks for the first and last touchdown scorer markets at the Caesars Superdome on Sunday.
Super Bowl 59 Best First Touchdown Scorer Bets
Eagles WR A.J. Brown (+1100)
Looking back at Super Bowl history, wide receivers are responsible for scoring the first touchdown in 25 of 58 games (43.1%), per NFL betting trends.
The NFC Championship Game was a good time to zag when everyone zigged on Eagles wideout .J. Brown. The alpha has been used sparingly in the Eagles’ offense for much of the season and he was due for a massive performance. He delivered with 96 yards and a score to help lift the Eagles to the Big Game.
Philadelphia has been thumping their opponents all season long with running back Saquon Barkley, leading to others taking a back seat in opportunities. However, it’s likely the Birds will deploy their receivers against Kansas City when given one-on-one opportunities.
Kansas City ranked 17th in defensive passing DVOA during the regular season. Brown went for 96 yards on six receptions and a score in Super Bowl 57, and that’s when KC had cornerback L’Jarius Sneed at their disposal.
Trent McDuffie has emerged as one of the best corners in the league but he is a bit undersized and he matches up better physically against DeVonta Smith. Steve Spagnuolo will deploy a ton of man defense and there’s no one better against man-to-man on the outside than Brown.
The Eagles face two-high safeties at the lowest rate in the league and that will continue Sunday with Spags likely loading the box to attempt to slow down this Eagles’ ground-and-pound. This will open up the play action shots to Brown on the perimeter. This is an excellent opportunity to buy low in NFL player prop bets on one of the league’s best wide receivers.

PICK: A.J. Brown First Touchdown Scorer (+1100)
Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (+750)
Like many players, the value for Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce to score anytime in the game isn’t enticing, but if we back him to score first in our online bet, the odds become much more attractive. Kelce has seen his target share bump in the playoffs. Patrick Mahomes and Kelce have the experience, so the jitters should escape them early in the game.
Kelce had a down year by his standards but still led Kansas City in end zone targets. Over the past three playoff runs for the Chiefs, Kelce has scored in nine of 12 games. In Kelce’s playoff career, he has scored an incredible 19 times in 20 games, per Chiefs vs Eagles stats. He has been the first touchdown scorer for the Chiefs in five of the last nine playoff games.
The matchup for Kelce isn’t eye-popping because the Eagles have done well in holding opposing tight ends in check. They allowed just five receiving touchdowns to tight ends, but they have been more vulnerable to the position of late. We watched Commanders tight end Zach Ertz post 11 receptions for 104 yards in the NFC Championship Game.
The Eagles’ defense under Vic Fangio prefers to take away the deep ball and force opponents to be more methodical. A combination of Cooper DeJean, a rookie, and linebacker Zach Baun will likely be tasked with defending future Hall of Famer Kelce. Philly will opt to play more zone, and there isn’t a more lethal duo than Mahomes and Kelce at finding voids against zone coverages.
Whether you believe in storybook stuff or the Super Bowl script garbage, you should trust Kelce to find the end zone first and expect a ton of Taylor Swift Super Bowl airtime afterward.
PICK: Travis Kelce First Touchdown Scorer (+750)
Super Bowl 59 Best Last Touchdown Scorer Bets
Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy (+1000)
The game flow is critical when wagering on the first and last touchdown scorer markets. Rookie Xavier Worthy is an excellent bet to score an anytime touchdown for the Chiefs. I also like him to score first, but I like his odds better of being the last touchdown scorer in my NFL expert picks.
It’s difficult for me to pick against Mahomes and the Chiefs, so as a result, they could have the lead late in the game. Kansas City will struggle to find success on the ground so they will likely lean on the quick passing game as a way to counter-punch that.
Over the last two seasons, the Chiefs have had the second-highest pass rate in the red zone, (64%) behind only the Buccaneers. Naturally, plenty of attention will go to Kelce. A first-round pick, Worthy has garnered an impressive team-high 26.5% target share in the playoffs. Andy Reid will dial up exotic looks in the screen game, which the speedster has excelled with this season.
Since Week 16, Worthy leads the Chiefs with three receiving scores. Reid uses him all over the formation, in the slot, wide and in the backfield. Worthy is often in motion and his speed, which made NFL news when he broke the 40 record at the NFL Combine, makes him a tough cover near the goal line.
The Chiefs’ offense was a bit average by their standards, but Worthy will be the beneficiary of Kelce getting plenty of attention, and he will have the opportunity to cap off the Super Bowl in the end zone. If the Chiefs ice this game, it will be on the legs of Worthy punching one in the end zone late.

Eagles RB Saquon Barkley (+450)
One intriguing thing to watch in the Super Bowl will be the Eagles’ ability to put teams away in the second half versus the Chiefs’ strength at shutting down teams in the second half.
If there is one guy we should expect to light up the Super Bowl Score Prediction, it’s Saquon Barkley. His knack for finding the end zone and putting up massive rushing numbers is unprecedented. The odds on Barkley to score just once aren’t enticing, but betting him to be the first touchdown scorer in the game is much more palatable.

The Eagles will look to establish the run early. It’s an apparent weakness for the Chiefs defense that Philly will attack. The Chiefs have a pair of terrific cornerbacks but struggled to stop the run at times. The Chiefs haven’t allowed a 100-yard rusher in their last 18 playoff games, while Barkley has hit 100+ in 14-of-19 games this season, including all three in the postseason.
The former No. 2 overall pick has been the best player in the NFL this season and showed it all postseason. The Eagles’ offensive line will continue to make holes for Barkley. Philadelphia ran inside zone at the fourth-highest rate, and the Chiefs allowed 4.3 yards per play (21st in the NFL) against this scheme.
I expect a Super Bowl MVP-caliber performance from Barkley making him an excellent target for Super Bowl player prop bets. Since signing with the Eagles, Barkley has put the cape on and hasn’t taken it off since.
Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore understands he needs to get the ball in his best playmakers hands. If the Eagles have the lead late in the fourth quarter, Barkley will likely be the guy to score last and ice the game before the confetti falls.
PICK: Saquon Barkley Last Touchdown Scorer (+450)
