Take the Texans as an Underdog at Home Against the Steelers

A pair of young quarterbacks will go head-to-head when the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans meet Sunday. CJ Stroud will look to lead the Texans to their second straight win after getting out to a slower start while Kenny Pickett and the Steelers will aim to make it three consecutive wins. However, according to NFL odds, Pittsburgh is favored on the road.

Pittsburgh was able to grab its second win in a row over a struggling Raiders team, however, it nearly lost that as well.

Though the Steelers had their best game offensively with 333 total yards behind a 235-yard, two-touchdown performance from Pickett, their defense nearly allowed the Raiders to tie it back up.

Pittsburgh gave up 362 yards to Vegas, including 172 yards and two touchdowns to receiver Davante Adams who almost had it come back from a 23-7 fourth-quarter deficit.

The Steelers have relied more on their defense than offense lately, but with it ranking in the bottom five in the NFL in yards allowed, they may need to show some improvement before becoming solid NFL picks.

Texans Show Improvement

Houston had its best game of the season offensively to help it pick up its first win of the year against Jacksonville.

After averaging 14.5 points and 328.5 yards a game in their first two games, the Texans went off for 37 points and 366 yards in their first win.

Stroud has been finding his footing, throwing for two touchdowns in each of Houston’s last two games and 332 yards a game in that time as well, also managing to remain mistake-free.

Stroud and the Texans’ offense are still developing, and bettors may want to see if they can continue their strong play against the Steelers before betting on the NFL, but they should be a strong choice against Pittsburgh if they can.

Steelers vs Texans Best Bets

The Texans will try to put together two straight games of strong offensive play when they face the Steelers. Though Pittsburgh has a strong defensive front, with Houston as an underdog, there’s value in placing NFL bets on the Texans.

Stroud has been impressive and will hope to continue that solid play against Pittsburgh, which didn’t have the greatest performance defensively last week.

Houston also made things tough for Jacksonville last week, limiting it to 17 points while turning the Jaguars over twice. With Pickett also having issues taking care of the ball, the Texans could make things uncomfortable for him.

The Steelers should make it a close and defensive game but expect the Texans to grab their second straight win.
