NFL Divisional Round Picks: Texans vs Chiefs
1. Kansas City ALT Spread -17½ (+270)
Our first NFL alternate longshot pick will be on the Chiefs to win this game by at least 18 points. This is a wager on the alternate spread.
These teams met in Week 16, and the Chiefs won at home 27-19. Kansas City was just a field goal favorite in that one, so the sportsbook respects playoff Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs this weekend.
The Chiefs have covered the regular spread in six straight playoff games, per NFL betting trends, and they are 9½-point favorites for this one. We are asking them to not only cover the regular spread but also win on Saturday by a fair margin. Patrick Mahomes is 13-5 ATS in his career in the postseason.
Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was the season’s second-most sacked passer in the NFL. Houston’s offense ranked 27th in passing success rate and last in the league in rushing success rate. If the Chiefs jump out to an early lead, they can pull away in the second half by multiple scores.
In their last six home playoff games to open the postseason, the Chiefs have won them by margins of 18 points (2018), 20 points (2019), 5 points (2020), 21 points (2021), 7 points (2022) and 19 points (2023). Therefore, this wager would have cashed in four of six.
If that’s not enough for you, Andy Reid has been nearly impeccable with extended rest and time to prepare. Reid has gone 201-12 ATS with 13-14 days between matchups. Count on the Chiefs on Saturday to pull away and win this one by at least three scores in NFL game predictions.

2. Chiefs WR DeAndre Hopkins 4+ receptions (+123)
Chiefs veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will be rested entering this matchup. He sat out Week 18 alongside most of the Chiefs starters, and the bye in the Wild Card round afforded the 32-year-old an extra week to prepare his body for a potential deep postseason run for the first time in his NFL career.
Nuk Hopkins has been in the league for 13 years and has never won a playoff game beyond the Wild Card round. He will face his former team with a bit of that sweet “revenge game” factor calculated in this NFL player prop pick for Saturday.
Hopkins was acquired by Kansas City in Week 8 following the season-ending knee injury to Rashee Rice. Hopkins finished with at least four receptions in seven of 10 games with the Chiefs during the regular season, including the Week 16 meeting against Houston.
The Texans deploy zone coverage at the 10th-highest rate in the league. Hopkins leads all Chiefs wide receivers with at least 50 routes run and a 21.1% target rate against zone. Bet online on Hopkins to cash in this alternate receptions line.
