It is going to get ugly this Thursday Night – like a lion mauling a gazelle kind of ugly. Detroit and Green Bay are division rivals that tend to play in these grinding affairs. Our book favors Detroit by 1.5 points with a total of 46. But that may be too many points as six of the last nine meetings have gone under. With that in mind, we found Thursday Night Football props to further emphasize this point.
Best Lions-Packers Props
Scoring at a Premium For the Lions and Packers
Who could ever forget Dan Campbell’s post-game quip following the first Lions-Packers game last season? It was an exhausting defensive battle that produced a total of 24 points with just three touchdowns and four turnovers. Something similar might happen here.
Thursday Night Football picks may be split between these rivals. Detroit and Green Bay feature hardworking defenses. In Detroit’s case, it’s a work in progress but one that held Kansas City to 20 points and kept Atlanta from the end zone.
Green Bay has also been a top-15 defense in Matt LaFleur’s tenure with the organization. While the Packers are not spectacular, it’s a unit that can keep the scoring low enough for an on-and-off offense to compete. Thus, some of the best props to bet online here involve fewer than six total touchdowns and for neither team to hit the 25-point mark.
NFL Pick: Total TDs in the Game – Under 5.5 TDs
NFL Pick: Race to 25 Points – Neither

No Love For Love Against Detroit
Detroit held Aaron Rodgers to a 64.9 passer rating and a 57.1% completion rate last season. This team gets at quarterbacks and Jordan Love will have a rough time. Rodgers’ replacement has been OK this season. But if you remove his stats against the hapless Bears, his completion rate is just 52.2% and his yards per attempt is 5.9.
The Packers may look to get the running game going more, especially when Love struggles early as he did against New Orleans. In our sportsbook, you can bet against Love throwing more than one touchdown pass and going over 221 passing yards. These are solid props to take given what he’s going up against.
Lions To Win a Nailbiter – Don’t Blink
As far as the Thursday Night Football schedule, this is a good one. There might not be a lot of scoring here, but expect a playoff atmosphere. The Lions and Packers have inspired teams that will fight in every snap. But our money is on Campbell’s crew, which is also more talented with a higher upside.
But in what should be a close game, neither team will pull away by too much. The Lions should edge the Packers by a margin of no more than six points. As a result, we like the prop where Detroit wins by 1-6 points for triple your stake. Alternatively, a bet on either team to win by 1-5 points offers a good price.
Best Lions-Packers Parlay
Go in on the Lions to beat Green Bay with a total of under 46 points. We reckon this game could resemble the last two meetings, in which Detroit both won by no more than six points. That’s the Thursday Night Football parlay this week.
