I’m the first to admit when I mess up, and taking the Philadelphia Eagles over the San Francisco 49ers was my biggest snafu of Week 13. A close second was picking the Pittsburgh Steelers as my Week 13 NFL lock, but we’ll forget about that disaster.
Now, with the 49ers set to host the 6-6 Seattle Seahawks, I’m going to change my tune about this team and lock them in as my best NFL pick for Sunday.
Seattle’s Quest for Revenge Will Fall Short
I can only imagine that the Seattle Seahawks are seething after getting embarrassed on national TV on Thanksgiving when they were smoked by the 49ers 31-13. The loss kicked off a losing streak that Seattle has yet to shake.
Some consider this a textbook letdown game for the 49ers and a revenge opportunity for Seattle. But I look at Thanksgiving as the beginning of the end for the Seahawks season.
After what I witnessed on Sunday from the 49ers, I see no reason to make any NFL bets against them from here on out. In what could be a preview of the NFC Championship Game, the 49ers doused the then-10-1 Eagles with gasoline, lit a match and walked away. It was brutal.
And while the Eagles have a great defense, albeit underperforming, the Seahawks are the 25th-ranked scoring defense and allow over 350 yards per game to opponents. The 49ers, who rank second in both points and yards per game, are going to walk all over Seattle’s defense. Meanwhile, San Francisco’s second-ranked scoring defense will keep Geno Smith in check.
Even if the Seahawks somehow keep this game close or lead heading into the fourth quarter, they cannot be trusted. This is important for anyone looking at live betting on this game. The Seahawks lead the NFL with eight blown fourth-quarter leads.
The NFL lines this week are right on the money, and perhaps even giving the Seahawks a little too much credit.
SEA vs SF Best Bet: 49ers 10½ ( -110)
Questions Of The Day
Will the Bills' Defense Stop the Chiefs' Offense and Deliver a Betting Value Win?
The BetUS NFL lines suggest not, with the Chiefs’ favored by two points on the spread.
Can the Dolphins Extend Their Winning Streak Against the Titans?
More than likely, yes. The Dolphins are the biggest favorite on the NFL odds board at -900 to beat the Titans in Miami.
