Weekly NFC East Props: Stack Passing Games Bets

As usual, the NFC East will be in the spotlight for Week 1 of the 2023 season. The Philadelphia Eagles face the New England Patriots in the 4:25 p.m. ET slot, and the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants collide on Sunday Night Football. The Washington Commanders are playing host to the Arizona Cardinals is an underwhelming matchup, but Washington could draw eyes following an ownership change.

Each game provides plenty of NFL betting angles, including props. Let’s look at some of the top props for NFL predictions.

Eagles’ Front Seven Spooks Pats’ Run Game?

The Eagles kick off the season with a visit to Gillette Stadium against the Patriots. New England ranked 26th in yards per game last season, and Philadelphia led the league in allowed yards per game.

The Pats’ offense could be overwhelmed, especially against Philly’s front seven. New England’s offensive line was underwhelming in 2022, especially in the run game. The unit ranked last in run-block win rate.

Running back Rhamondre Stevenson missed Friday’s practice but is expected to play.

Still, fading the Patriots’ run game could be a wise idea.

Instead, prop up on the passing game in NFL picks. Will New England’s air attack dominate? Probably not. But with more pass attempts, higher numbers should follow.

If the Eagles build a comfortable lead, the passing attempts will only go up. Quarterback Mac Jones averaged 20.6 completions last season. Jones should go over 20 completions, especially if the run game stumbles.

Pick: Mac Jones 22+ Pass Completions (+102)

Howell Looks to Prove Worth in Washington

We have heard about quarterback Sam Howell throughout the offseason. The Commanders seem to be very impressed with the second-year signal-caller. The hype has only mounted following an exceptional preseason.

Howell has one career start. Any props for the former Tar Heel could be mostly a gut feeling. I’m expecting Howell to leave a lasting impression. It helps he gets to face perhaps the worst team in the NFL – the Arizona Cardinals.

In addition, wide receiver Terry McLaurin is good to go as his toe injury was a question mark for most of the week. Howell should complete a few throws in the end zone.

Pick: Sam Howell 2+ Passing Touchdowns (+136)

Dak Attacks on SNF

The Cowboys-Giants could be one of the most popular parlay options of the week. Fortunately, several NFL odds look promising.

Dak Prescott’s day through the air could be the best bet. Dallas’ offensive line is already banged up as offensive tackle Tyron Smith and guard Tyler Smith are questionable. Without two starters, the Cowboys could abandon the run game. So much for running the rock more often, as coach Mike McCarthy suggested in the offseason.

Dallas will want to try its new-look receiving corps too, which features the addition of Brandin Cooks. I like Prescott to reach 254 passing yards. He has reached this mark in five of his last seven games against New York.

Pick: Dak Prescott 252+ Passing Yards (-103)
