When the New England Patriots meet the Pittsburgh Steelers, it will be an offensive game for all the wrong reasons. Neither team is equipped to score, hence the laughably low total of 30. And that might still be too high given how each team has looked. New England has a historically bad offense while Pittsburgh is not much better. So the best NFL pick this week might be to go ‘under’.
Steelers Need Playmakers
Pittsburgh needs its offense to step up now with quarterback Kenny Pickett hurt. Mitchell Trubisky is a former Pro Bowler so he should be a solid backup under center. But the Steelers still have plenty of talented skill players like George Pickens and Najee Harris. They’ve underperformed partially due to poor play calling and a suspect offensive line.

But there are no excuses for Pittsburgh as the team is favored by nearly a touchdown over New England. The Steelers have a top-six scoring defense. They have held opponents to under 20 points in six of their last eight games. And unlike New England, Pittsburgh has a winning record when it does that: 6-1 overall.
Given Pittsburgh’s defensive prowess, holding New England to under 20 should be no issue. It now falls on the offense to get past the Patriots’ stubborn defense. They don’t need to score a lot to be worth betting online.
New England, New Lows
Once upon a time, the Patriots were the most feared team in the NFL. Now, the team is a laughingstock thanks to its indescribably terrible offense. Get this: New England allowed a total of 26 points in its last three games. But it lost all three as the offense merely scored half of that. It’s the first time in 87 years that this has happened.
Bill Belichick still has one of the best defenses in the league. The Pats are ranked eighth in total defense and are top six in red zone percentage. But the offense is so inept at scoring points that New England lost the last three games it outgained its opponents.
That’s why NFL lines continue to reflect a low total for this team. Despite that, the total has consistently gone under: nine of its 11 games. And going against Pittsburgh, this trend could continue.
