Picking the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player in recent years has been as simple as picking the quarterback on the winning team with six of the last eight Super Bowl MVPs being quarterbacks.

Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs has won the award three times and only fellow QB Tom Brady has won the award more frequently. Many of those making Super Bowl LIX bets are taking Mahomes at +115 to win his fourth Super Bowl MVP. Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley is listed as second favorite (+225) and quarterback Jalen Hurts third (+350).
If you want Super Bowl MVP picks with more value, keep reading as we will look at candidates with odds from +1600 to +15000
3 Underdogs Who Could Win Super Bowl LIX MVP Award
1. Travis Kelce (+1600)
There are times when the Kansas City Chiefs seem interchangeable with Xavier Worthy, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Hollywood Brown and DeAndre Hopkins all fighting for targets.
That is not the case at the tight end position.
Kelce was targeted 10 times in Super Bowl LVIII when he had nine catches for 93 yards. He caught all six of his targets for 81 yards when the Chiefs topped the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII following the 2022 season.
Some only think of Kelce as the guy dating Taylor Swift. It might be time to remind them that Kelce has caught more passes in the playoffs than anybody in NFL history.
Kelce had a career-low 823 receiving yards during the regular season. When things get tight, Mahomes’ first read when he drops back to pass is usually his veteran tight end.

No tight end has ever won the Super Bowl MVP award. Can Kelce change that and deliver on the +1600 NFL betting odds?

2. A.J. Brown (+2800)
In the first two playoff games, A.J. Brown got more attention for reading books on the bench than anything he did on the field as he caught just three of 10 targets for 24 yards in wins over the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Rams.
“I was just trying to stay locked in and let the game come to me.”

It was a different deal in the NFC Championship Game against the Washington Commanders as Brown had 96 yards on six receptions.
Since arriving in Philadelphia, the Eagles are 14-3 when Brown has at least 100 receiving yards. He flirted with a 100-yard game with 96 yards the last time the Eagles played the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
The Chiefs ranked 18th in passing yards allowed per game during the regular season. There could be opportunities for Brown to make the kind of plays that could earn him a chance to come through at +2800 odds to win Super Bowl MVP.

3. Xavier Worthy (+2800)
More than a few NFL news outlets and insiders cringed when the Chiefs made a trade so they could trade up and take Xavier Worthy.
The thought of Mahomes being able to add a wide receiver who set the NFL Scouting Combine record by running the 40-yard dash in 4.21 seconds.
Worthy led all Kansas City receivers with 59 targets during the regular season. He also ran the ball 20 times. Those who bet online and went with Worthy to be the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year will get a second chance by going with Worthy to be the Super Bowl MVP.
Worthy has been targeted more than any other Chiefs player in the first two postseason games.
Philadelphia has plenty of talent at the cornerback position so it will be interesting to see if Worthy can break free in the Super Bowl.
Worthy is a threat to break the game open as a pass catcher or as a runner and will draw some interest with +2800 odds to snatch the award.

What About the Defense?
Chris Jones is a force in the middle of the Chiefs defense and at +5000, he has the shortest odds for a defensive player to be the MVP in the Super Bowl. Von Miller is the last defensive player to win the award. However, that happened nine years ago.
There are some injury concerns for the Eagles with some of its interior offensive linemen and that could spell trouble when facing a game-wrecker like Jones.
Fellow defensive tackle Jalen Carter comes in at +6500 to be the Super Bowl MVP according to BetUS Sportsbook.
Carter was still at the University of Georgia the last time the Eagles made it to the Super Bowl. He has nine tackles and two sacks in the first three playoff games.
Carter offers plenty of value at +6500 odds to win the award but that is one Super Bowl betting option we would avoid.
Chiefs edge rusher George Karlaftis (+10000), Eagles’ leading tackler Zack Baun (+10000) and cornerback Cooper DeJean (+15000) are other defensive players to keep an eye on.
