Who are the 2025 Stanley Cup Odds Betting Favorites?
As we look ahead to the 2024/25 NHL season, the race for the Stanley Cup is already heating up, with several teams emerging as early favorites. Leading the pack are the Florida Panthers, Edmonton Oilers, and Carolina Hurricanes, all sitting at +900 odds.
Not far behind are the Colorado Avalanche at +1000, while the Dallas Stars and New York Rangers, both at +1100, round out the list, boasting strong rosters and proven playoff pedigrees.
Florida Panthers +900
The Florida Panthers’ +900 odds as early favorites for the 2025 Stanley Cup are no fluke. Fresh off their second consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearance, the Panthers have proven they’re built for playoff success. Led by Aleksander Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk, Florida boasts one of the strongest offenses in the league alongside a stingy defense anchored by Sergei Bobrovsky’s resurgence in net.
Head coach Paul Maurice has instilled an undeniable winning culture, even while blowing a 3-0 lead in this season’s Stanley Cup race, and the team’s core remains intact. With valuable playoff and title-winning experience under their belts and a hunger to finish what they started, the Panthers are primed to make another deep run.
Edmonton Oilers +900
Having Connor McDavid alone should be reason enough for the Edmonton Oilers to sit comfortably as one of the very early favorites to win next season’s Stanley Cup title. Their heroic resurgence in the league title series against Florida speaks volumes of what this team can do, especially with McDavid linking up with Leon Draisaitl forming one of the strongest offenses in the NHL.
In all honesty, based solemnly on their power play expertise alone, alongside a defense that has finally started to show some much needed improvement, I’ll take the Oilers any day over almost any other team.

The @EdmontonOilers might not have the Stanley Cup just yet, but with Kait cheering them on, they’re unstoppable.

Carolina Hurricanes +900
It must be nice to be the Carolina Hurricanes and know that when it comes to any conversation about teams that don’t stink up the state of NC when it comes to pro sports, they lead all lists. (Yes Panthers, you suck, live with it).
Give me Sebastian Aho’s offensive showings, Frederick Andersen being a true difference maker at goalie when healthy, and Jaccob Slavin’s lockdown defensive skills any day, plus Carolina’s relentless, possession-driven style that wears down opponents, and I’ll buy into a title-driven narrative for next season.
Colorado Avalanche +1000
After winning the Cup back in 2022, the Colorado Avalanche wants to go on another title run next season. With coach Jared Bednar and a stacked roster led by Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar making up one of the most balanced and overly dominant squads in the league, both on offense and defense, there’s enough star power and depth to go around.
If there are any doubts left, don’t ever take how much title hunger can drive a team for granted, especially one like Colorado.
Dallas Stars +1100
If you’re looking for a team that could stand by this coming offseason, not really do much to the roster, and still go into next season with one of the strongest rosters in the NHL, then the Dallas Stars are your pick. Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz are masters when it comes to lighting up the scoreboard with their no-rest offense. On defense, Miro Heiskanen is everything coach Pete DeBoer could ever want to hold the line.
If there’s anything this team could focus on, it should be to resign right-shot defenseman Chris Tanev. He might not be the easiest contract to work with, but it’ll be in the team’s best interest to keep him around before losing him in a market that’s going to be hungry for players with his profile.
New York Rangers +1100
Remember when I said I would take Edmonton over almost any other team? Now entering the conversation “any other team”, my personal favorite since I was a kid growing up in midtown Manhattan, the New York Rangers.
From Igor Shesterkin (my favorite NHL player right now) to Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, Chris Kreider, Adam Fox, and Alexis Lafrenière, HC Peter Laviolette has enough force and firepower on all lines to clearly try and make a definitive run for the cup next season.
If you were to ask me, a humble fan, signing a right wing for the long haul should be the team’s main priority this offseason. Carolina’s Jake Guentzel would probably look great playing at MSG, but that’s just me talking.
Who Are The 2025 Stanley Cup Betting Sleepers?
Now that we got the favorites out of the way grab the headlines, let’s talk about the picks that most NHL betting fans look for when wanting to make bank and look cool while doing so, the Stanley Cup sleepers.
Las Vegas Golden Knights +1200
Given Las Vegas managed to win the title last season, what’s to stop them from winning it again next season? As previously said, lightning can strike twice in the desert, all it will take will be for Bruce Cassidy to make sure his team remembers what mounting a deep playoff run is like. Thankfully Jack Eichel and Mark Stone should make the job easier to bear.
Toronto Maple Leafs +1600
Ah the Maple Leafs, always a contender, never a title winner. That is of course since their last Stanley Cup win back in 1967. Despite their playoff struggles, their core of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander remains elite. With a new coaching staff and potential roster tweaks, the Leafs could finally break their postseason curse. Also, it won’t hurt if they sign a center this offseason, someone like Elias Lindholm for example.
Boston Bruins +2000
Remember just now how I said the Leafs should sign Lindholm? Well, you know who else should target the Swedish center? Yes, Boston! Coach Jim Montgomery’s system has proven effective, especially with vets like Brad Marchand and Charlie McAvoy doing their thing alongside David Pastrnak, Pavel Zacha, Charlie Coyle, and Matt Poitras.
Remember, offenses win games, and defenses win championships, and Boston’s defensive structure could very well help this team make a title run next season.
Vancouver Canucks +2000
I like what Rick Tocchet has been doing with the Canucks, I’m not going to lie. This team has shown certain flashes of brilliance here and there, and with players like Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes, and Thatcher Demko, there’s more to love than to hate here.

With that said, if Vancouver really wants to go for the title, or at least a deep playoff run, they need, and I repeat in caps, -NEED- to sign a top-tier winger. Pettersson and JT Miller need more help in the top six. As players like Martin Necas, Mitch Marner, and Nikolaj Ehlers get ready to hit the market this offseason, any of them could be an A+ upgrade. Rumors are they are leading the Jake Guentzel race.

If you’re here, it’s because you are really into high-risk, high-reward bets. You know, those picks that make your friends question if you know something that nobody else knows or if you’re just crazy. But hey, no hate on my part here. I myself like to dabble in the world of long shot betting picks like these for next season’s Stanley Cup race.
The Montreal Canadiens and the newly formed Utah Hockey Club are the leading underdogs, both with odds of +8000. Montreal, with its rich history and young core led by Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, could surprise if everything clicks. Meanwhile, the Utah franchise, as an expansion team, has the potential to replicate Vegas’ inaugural season magic.
The Washington Capitals (+10000) shouldn’t be counted out entirely, especially if Alex Ovechkin continues his pursuit of Wayne Gretzky’s goal record with renewed vigor.
At +15000, we find a trio of teams in various stages of rebuilding: the Anaheim Ducks, Chicago Blackhawks, and Columbus Blue Jackets. While their odds are long, young talents like Trevor Zegras, Connor Bedard, and Johnny Gaudreau could spark unexpected runs.
Lastly, the San Jose Sharks are bringing up the rear at a staggering +25,000. While their odds reflect their current struggles, the unpredictable nature of hockey means even they have a glimmer of hope.
