NHL Tuesday Night Grand Salami

With nine games on Tuesday night, bettors are feeling bullish on the chances of a high-scoring outcome for at least five of them. Looking at these NHL odds, we highlight the four best games, with most taking place in the early parts of the evening.

NHL Totals Preview

Canucks vs Sabres

• Totals: Over 6½ (-125), Under 6½ (+105)

Struggling squads can make for some brilliant hockey, especially when the defense is lacking. The Canucks, who are allowing four goals a game, face the Sabres, who have allowed almost five a game (4.8) in their last five. They also have two of the worst penalty-killing units and goaltenders with save percentages below 90 percent.

Most notably, seven of the Canucks’ last eight road games have gone over the total, and five of their last trips to Buffalo have as well. It would take Dominik Hasek-like performances from the goalies to keep the totals under 6½ here. Don’t bet online on it.

Capitals vs Panthers

• Totals: Over 6½ (-105), Under 6½ (-115)

The “Great 8” and his Capitals visit the Panthers in a rematch of their first-round clash in last season’s Stanley Cup Playoffs. That series saw an average of 6½ goals scored per game, with at least one team scoring four or more goals in five of the six games.

These teams are not as potent as they were last season. The Capitals are suffering from a plethora of injuries, while the Panthers lost a few key players in the offseason and have a new coach. However, 11 of their last 14 games against each other have gone over the total. So this could be a game that gets them going.

Maple Leafs vs Penguins

• Totals: Over 6½ (-130), Under 6½ (+110)

Speaking of teams that need to get it going, the Maple Leafs are supposed to be one of the league’s most prolific offenses. But Toronto is just 23rd in scoring at 2.81 goals per game. Auston Matthews has combined for “only” 10 goals. If they can’t get it going, the Penguins may just crush them in Pittsburgh.

The Penguins have averaged six goals against Toronto in their last three games at the PPG Paints Arena. In fact, the total has gone over in five of their last six games, thanks to one team blowing up on the scoreboard.

Stars vs Lightning

• Totals: Over 6 (-110), Under 6 (-110)

A rematch of the 2020 Stanley Cup Finals, the Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning are in a good spot this season. These are two of the best two-way teams with elite goaltending, although the totals have trended ‘over’ for both. Five of each of their last seven games have gone over the total.

The Lightning is more productive offensively in Florida. Tampa Bay averages 3.86 goals per game in the Amalie Arena hence why five of their seven games have gone over. Dallas isn’t too shabby on the road: 3.67 goals per game, tied for sixth-most. With a total of six on the online sportsbook, bet the over.
