NHL Who’s Hot, Who’s Not Betting Report: Miller, Canucks Soaring

The NHL Global Series got underway with Ottawa outlasting Detroit in an entertaining overtime affair on Thursday. It was one of five one-goal games on Thursday.

The Vegas Golden Knights won an entertaining matchup with Montreal to take over the points lead in the NHL standings. The Boston Bruins continue to lead the way with just one regulation loss as Vegas and Boston are among the front-runners according to the NHL futures odds as the top Stanley Cup contenders.

The Edmonton Oilers are trending in the right direction after making a head coaching change while the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Islanders are heading in the other direction with seven straight losses.

The Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, Dallas Wings and Vegas Golden Knights are living up to the NHL bet predictions as they are the four division leaders.

When looking at the NHL odds and predictions, Colorado (+800) and Vegas (+800) lead the way in the odds of winning the Stanley Cup while the Bruins (+900) and Carolina Hurricanes (+1000) aren’t far behind in the championship odds.

Who’s Hot

Forwards

  • Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins: The future Hall of Famer has points in his last 10 games. He has five goals and five assists in six games played in November. He is once again featured prominently in our sportsbook in the Hart Memorial Trophy odds.
  • J.T. Miller, Vancouver Canucks: Take your pick of the Vancouver players as Miller, Elias Pettersson and defenseman Quinn Hughes are tied for the NHL lead with 27 points. Miller has four multi-point efforts in his last six games with four goals and seven assists in those games.
  • Sam Reinhart, Florida Panthers: Reinhart has five goals and eight assists over the last six games as Florida has gone 5-1 to move into second place in the Atlantic Division.

Defensemen

  • Evan Bouchard, Edmonton Oilers: Bouchard assisted on three of the four goals in an overtime win over Seattle on Wednesday. He has four assists and a +3 plus/minus rating in Edmonton’s three-game winning streak.


  • Justin Faulk, St. Louis Blues: Faulk has five assists and a +6 defensive rating during the four-game winning streak for the Blues.
  • Devon Toews, Colorado Avalanche: Toews has back-to-back, multi-point games with a goal and three assists and a +3 defensive rating in wins over Seattle and Anaheim.

Goaltenders

  • John Gibson, Anaheim Ducks: Gibson is 3-1 with a 1.51 goals-against average and .952 save percentage in four November appearances as he makes it back onto this list.
  • Charlie Lindgren, Washington Capitals: Lindgren is 3-0-0 with a 1.01 goals-against average and has stopped 93 of his last 96 shots.
  • Stuart Skinner, Edmonton Oilers: Skinner has stopped 81 of 86 shots to win his last three games after allowing 13 goals in his previous three contests.

Who’s Not

Forwards

  • Johnny Gaudreau, Columbus Blue Jackets: Gaudreau has just one goal in his first 17 games after being a three-time 30-goal scorer with Calgary. Gaudreau has no points, just four shots on goal and a -4 defensive rating in his last four games.
  • Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Montreal Canadiens: After scoring 14 goals in 34 games as a rookie, Harvey-Pinard has no goals in the first 13 games and no points in his last five games.
  • Seth Jarvis, Carolina Hurricanes: Jarvis has no points and no assists in his last five games and he is -1 during that stretch as the Hurricanes have scored just 10 goals in those games.

Defensemen

  • Calen Addison, San Jose Sharks: Since being acquired from Minnesota, Addison has no goals, no assists, and a -5 plus/minus rating in five games.
  • Jackson LaCombe, Anaheim Ducks: The rookie has no points and a -6 defensive rating over the last four games after posting a -3 in the 8-2 loss to Colorado.
  • Jonas Siegenthaler, New Jersey Devils: Siegenthaler has no points in his last 14 games and a -3 defensive rating in seven games in November.

Goaltenders

  • Filip Gustavsson, Minnesota Wild: Gustavsson has allowed 11 goals on 67 shots in three games in the month of November.
  • Devon Levi, Buffalo Sabres: It has been a tough start for a player who came into the season being touted as a Calder Trophy candidate according to the NHL odds. Levi has allowed seven goals on 53 shots in his last two games.
  • Joseph Woll, Toronto Maple Leafs: Woll has a 4.18 goals-against average and a save percentage of .864 in his last four games.

Will the Boston Bruins win their next game in regulation?


Boston trails only the Vancouver Canucks in regulation wins this season and will look to add to that number against Montreal on Saturday.

Will the Arizona Coyotes score at least three goals in their next game?


Arizona has scored at least three goals in its last three games. It might be hard to continue that trend on the road against Winnipeg.
