The Colorado Avalanche are the favorite in our NHL odds as they go after a fourth straight victory Monday night against the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Avalanche have averaged almost five goals per game while going 6-1-0 over their last seven contests to take over first place in the Central Division.
Meanwhile, the Lightning are on a run of their own with points in five straight contests (4-0-1). Tampa Bay started a three-game road trip with an 8-2 win at Carolina on Friday as former ConnSmythe and Vezina Trophy winner Andrei Vasilevskiy returned from back surgery.
Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov, who put up six points Friday, leads the NHL in scoring with 35 and there are five more players in his game among the top 23 scorers in the league.
Bolts Find More Routes to Moneyline Bet Success
The Lightning were 6-6-4, giving up goals like candy on Halloween and fading out of playoff position in mid November.
Since the talented offensive team was inexplicably shut out in consecutive games by Carolina and St. Louis, Tampa Bay has found a much better form. The Bolts paid Carolina back with a season-best eight goals as Kucherov matched a franchise record (two goals and four assists).
Nikita Kucherov became the first player this season to record 6 points in a game and the first forward in @TBLightning history to notch 6 points in one contest.#NHLStats: https://t.co/Hs4MgAEZI2 pic.twitter.com/nvvp9QibQL

Brayden Point also had a hat trick and five points Friday to push his total to 29 while captain Steven Stamkos (23 points) scored for the fourth straight contest for the Lightning, who are fourth in the league in scoring and second on the power play if you bet online.
Vasilevskiy stopped 22 of 24 shots in his season debut and may get the start, with a game at Arizona on Tuesday. If not, former Colorado goalie Jonas Johansson (8-4-5) gets the call.
Avalanche Also Paying Off on Puckline
Colorado has won five of the six games during its run by at least two goals. That sent the Avs’ loyal NHL spread picks bettors to the pay window in five of their last seven tries.
The Avalanche also gave up two or fewer goals in five of those outings after coughing up 12 in an ugly two-game span against St. Louis and Seattle.
Colorado can score, led by defenseman Cale Makar. The Norris Trophy frontrunner has 30 points (21 in 12 games this month) and a +18 rating to lead the team. Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen (26 points each) also make the Avs a great over bet.
Valeri Nichushkin has joined that group of late with a seven-game point streak. He had scored in six straight games before being stopped by Calgary in a 3-1 Colorado win Saturday.
Alexandar Georgiev does not have great numbers (.892 save percentage), but he leads the league in wins (12) if you bet on NHL.

Best Bets for Lightning vs Avalanche
It’s unsure whether Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper will use Vasilevskiy or Johansson on Monday, but it will still come down to how well the Lightning can sort things out on their own end. They are playing better defensively and have always been decent on the penalty kill, but the Bolts are still 27th in the league in goals against (3.52). Colorado may be a little too hot to handle in this matchup, despite Tampa Bay’s two wins (shootout victory in Denver) in the series last season. Take the Avs.
NHL Best Bet: Colorado – 1 ½ (+170).
Lightning vs Avalanche Betting Lines
Best Prop Bet for Lightning vs Avalanche
Despite all the great offensive talent on the ice, Vasilevskiy or Johansson may be able to keep Colorado off the scoreboard for a while. We think the first goal may be in the second half of the first period as Tampa Bay settles into the game.
Best NHL Prop: No goals first 9 ½ minutes (+135)
