Back the Panthers Against the Oilers in Hockey Picks for Nov. 20

Teams try to improve their positions in their respective divisions when the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers match up on Monday. The Oilers look to move farther away from the Pacific Division basement while Florida takes aim on first-place Boston in the Atlantic. However, with the Panthers winning six of their last seven, NHL odds have them as a slight favorite at home.

Oilers Fall Late

Edmonton dropped another game after its defense struggled to stop Tampa Bay from coming back in the third period.

Despite the Oilers having a 3-2 lead heading into the final period and outshooting Tampa Bay 43-24, they allowed the Lightning to rally, letting Tampa tie it on a power play and allowing three third-period goals.

Edmonton struggled to stop the power play, allowing the Lightning to go 2 for 4 with the man advantage. Stuart Skinner also struggled, giving up five goals with only 18 stops for a .783 save percentage.

The Oilers look to bounce back against Florida, but after they have given up nine total goals in their last two games, bettors may want to see how their defense starts before looking at some NHL live betting odds.

Florida Holds Strong

The Panthers continued their winning ways after they took down Anaheim behind another strong performance from their defense.

Florida is tied for seventh in the NHL at 2.71 goals allowed per game, limiting opponents to an average of 2.2 in the last five. In its win over the Ducks, Florida held them to one goal after keeping them to one-for-three on power-play chances.

Goalie Anthony Stolarz was also strong in the win, recording 34 saves to finish with a .971 save percentage. Stolarz has been responsible for the Panthers’ last two wins now after saving 22 shots for a .864 save percentage against San Jose.

Though Florida has yet to announce its starting goalie, it should be a solid NHL pick with either Stolarz or Sergei Bobrovsky, as the Panthers boast a .909 save percentage.

Oilers vs Panthers Betting Lines

Oilers vs Panthers Best Bet

Although the sportsbook has Florida as just a slight favorite at home, bettors should take the Panthers on the moneyline in their NHL bets for Nov. 20.

The Panthers have been rising through the Atlantic Division rankings. Florida should continue to ride a strong defense to down the Oilers, which hasn’t been the league-leading offense it was a season ago.

Edmonton has been disappointing behind its defense and Skinner. Though the Panthers aren’t the highest-scoring offense, averaging 3.06 goals a game, they should do enough damage to take down the Oilers at home.

NHL Pick: Florida Panthers (-115)
