NHL Battle North of the Border

Jets Look to End Losing Streak Against Surging Blues

The NHL is currently dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak for many teams, and that has forced the league to postpone a number of games. There are still some games to bet online and the Winnipeg Jets play host to the St. Louis Blues in one of the games still set to be played.

The NHL lines for this game might look a bit confusing when looking at the records as the Winnipeg Jets are actually the moneyline favorites at -135.

St. Louis Blues at Winnipeg Jets

Blues Blistering on Offense

St. Louis enters averaging 3.4 goals per game, and it features one of the best offenses. The Blues are scoring on the power play more than 30% of the time, and that special teams unit should play a key role in this game.

Vladimir Tarasenko leads the team with 28 points, and he registered two goals in the most recent wins. The Blues do have some offensive talent out of the lineup, but they can still score goals in a hurry.

Charlie Lindgren has taken over in the net for the Blues due to injuries, and he has gone a perfect 5-0 while allowing less than 1.3 goals per game. Lindgren recently said, “It’s been quite the ride so far,” and he should be back in the net again on Sunday.

St. Louis is a team that can still win games when giving up goals, but they are nearly impossible to beat when they get great play in the blue paint.

Jets Struggling on Special Teams

If the Winnipeg Jets are going to play themselves back into the playoff race, then they are going to have to get better play on special teams. The Jets have scored on just 17% of their power-play opportunities and have killed off less than 70% of their penalties.

Kyle Connor has provided plenty of offense for the Jets this season, leading the team with 18 goals and 32 total points. Connor hasn’t always gotten a ton of help from his teammates though, as Winnipeg is scoring just 2.8 goals per game.

Connor Hellebuyck has been inconsistent in net for Winnipeg as he has gone just 10-9-4 this season. Winnipeg is going to have to find a way to slow down an explosive Blues team if they want to win this matchup.

Jets Snap Skid

It has been a rough two weeks for the Winnipeg Jets, but this team is simply too talented to continue to lose games. Winnipeg has shown some signs of being able to turn this around, but they are just looking for more consistency.

St. Louis does a lot of things really well, but the Blues are also dealing with some injuries at this time. Traveling up to Winnipeg from St. Louis is not exactly an easy trip, and fatigue could play a factor in this game as well.

Expect one goal to be the difference on Sunday night, but this time it will be Winnipeg that lights the lamp and wins the game. Head to BetUS Sportsbook and bet on the Winnipeg Jets -135 over the St. Louis Blues on Sunday.
