Bet on Another Low-Scoring Game Between the Golden Knights and Blues

The Las Vegas Golden Knights and St. Louis Blues conclude their home-and-home series when they clash in St. Louis on Wednesday. Both teams have gotten their seasons off to solid starts, with St. Louis 13-10-1 and the Knights at the top of the Pacific. However, Vegas has lost four of its last six, including the game against the Blues, and will need to start winning to maintain its spot. The Knights are slightly favored in the rematch but expect it to be another low-scoring one in today’s hockey picks.

Vegas Falls In Overtime

The Golden Knights saw a two-game win streak come to an end as they lost 2-1 in overtime to St. Louis on Dec. 4.

Las Vegas managed to force overtime after tying it up midway through the third period, but it couldn’t hang on as the Blues made quick work in the extra time, scoring at 38 seconds after winning the faceoff.

Despite the loss, goaltender Logan Thompson had a solid game, saving 25 shots, while the Knights’ defense has still been their strength lately, keeping teams to two goals per game in their last eight.

Thompson is expected to be the starter again with goalie Adin Hill out, and he, along with the defense, will need another strong game to make Vegas a solid NHL bet for Dec. 6 to bounce back in the rematch.

St. Louis Keeps It Tight

The Blues, meanwhile, were on the opposite side of the overtime matchup with Las Vegas to give them their second win in three games.

Though St. Louis picked up another win, its offense still struggled to get going, as it has averaged 2.8 goals a game in its last five and three total in its last two, despite getting 59 shots on goal in those two games.

The Blues’ power play has been part of the issue, as they are the second worst in the NHL with a 9.9% success rate on the power play and have gone 2-for-12 with the extra man in their last five games.

St. Louis will try to put a few more in the back of the net in the rematch at home, but with its recent play, bettors may want to see if it can start stronger before making use of some NHL live betting odds.

Golden Knights vs Blues Best Bet

The sportsbook gives the slight edge to the Golden Knights on the road, but after the teams’ first game, bettors may want to make an NHL pick on the total, where NHL spreads set the over/under at six goals.

Although it’s a smaller total, neither offense has been lighting the lamp consistently lately, while the two failed to go over the total in their first game as well.

The Blues got the first win in overtime, though it was more so due to the strong play of goalie Jordan Binnington, who should make scoring difficult for Vegas yet again should he get the start. Thompson, meanwhile, has been playing better in December, and against a struggling St. Louis offense, he should be ready for another good game between the posts once again.

The two may not combine for just three scores again, but reaching the over after their first game seems like a tough draw as well.

NHL Pick: Under six goals

Question Of The Day

Could the Blues' experienced goaltender prove to be the X-factor in the game?

Jordan Binnington’s experience and strength in goal could be the difference maker in the rematch as well.
