A Dallas Stars team that is in second place in the Central Division hits the road to meet up with Florida, currently sitting third in the Atlantic Division. The NHL betting lines are favoring the visiting Stars but the game against the Panthers is approaching Pick’Em status.
Florida is coming off a 4-3 loss to the New York Islanders while the Panthers are 6-6 against Western Conference teams this season. Dallas was limited to 25 shots in a 4-0 road loss to Tampa Bay on Monday.
Dallas is 8-2-2 on the road and has the second-best points percentage away from home among Western Conference teams. Florida won seven of its first eight home games but has been outscored 10-4 while dropping its last three games at home. Keep that in mind when it comes to the hockey bets today.
Dallas swept both games against Florida last season with the Stars outscoring the Panthers 11-5. Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz and defenseman Nils Lundkvist each scored twice in those games. Carter Verhaeghe led Florida with two goals.
With defenseman Thomas Harley and center Sam Steel both back on the ice, the Stars are close to full strength for this matchup.
For Florida, defenseman Josh Mahura is expected to play in the game while winger Jonah Gadjovich is questionable after missing the last game with an upper-body injury.
Dallas Features Elite Penalty Kill
Dallas is second in the NHL when it comes to killing off penalties.
Some of the best work for the Stars has come on the road. Not only does Dallas have the best penalty-killing percentage of 95.2% on the road, but in 42 opposing power plays, the Stars have four short-handed goals and have allowed just two power-play goals.
Wyatt Johnston is tied for the NHL lead with two short-handed goals on the road.
When looking at the NHL odds, keep in mind that the total has gone over in four of the last six games that the Stars have played against Eastern Conference teams.
Florida Looks to Get Offensive
Florida is just 20th in the NHL with an average of three goals per game. It is not through a lack of opportunity as the Panthers are second in the league with 34.1 shots on goal per game.
Getting the power play going would be a huge help as Florida is converting on just 17.5% of its man-advantage opportunities.
That number has jumped slightly to 20% over the last three home games. However, a short-handed goal has been conceded during that stretch.
The NHL betting line total has gone under in five of Florida’s last six games.
Tkachuk, Robertson Prop Picks
Take a look at the options for a pair of proven goal scorers when it comes time to make NHL bet predictions.
Matthew Tkachuk had gone 10 games in a row without a goal before scoring in Saturday’s loss to the New York Islanders. He hasn’t scored goals in back-to-back games this season.
He has pretty tempting odds of +160 to score in this matchup and the Panthers will be looking for Tkachuk to get going.
Jason Robertson is tied for the team lead with five goals on the road for Dallas. After going back-to-back games with no shots on goal, he registered six shots in the last two games and scored twice in a win against Tampa Bay before the Stars were shut out by the Lightning two days later. Keep an eye on the +179 odds for Robertson to score a goal.

Stars vs Panthers Game Prediction
Predicted Score: Stars 4, Panthers 3
Go with the Over
Both teams head into this game with something to prove after some recent disappointing results.
The Stars haven’t played since Monday and will be looking to atone for a poor showing in a shutout loss at Tampa Bay. Florida wants to get back to its winning ways on home ice.
Don’t be surprised to see a decent number of power plays in this game and that could help put the game over the six-goal total.
NHL Pick: Over 6 (-115)
Will The Panthers and Stars Save the Best for Last?
Florida has scored six goals in the third period in recent wins over Ottawa and Montreal. Florida has scored more goals in the third period than in any other period so perhaps things will open up in the latter stages of this game.
Dallas has a +3 goal differential in the third period of road games this season and that is something to consider.
NHL Pick: Dallas Stars +1½ (-255)
