Anaheim Bidding for Third Straight Victory
The teams at the bottom of the Western Conference standings are set to square off in Anaheim.
The Anaheim Ducks are one point behind Columbus for the fewest points in the NHL. The Chicago Blackhawks have ripped off five wins in a row and still have the third-fewest points.
Chicago is one of three teams yet to hit double digits in road wins. That could change on Monday night in Anaheim, which has just 10 wins at home.
Chicago is 10th in the NHL with a .650 points percentage in February despite a -6 goal differential. Anaheim has given up 17 more goals than it has scored in February. However, Anaheim has points in five of the 10 games in the month.
Chicago continues to play without veteran forwards Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, with Kane likely to be traded sooner rather than later. Fellow forwards Mackenzie Entwistle, Reese Johnson, Sam Lafferty and defenseman Jarred Tinordi are sidelined. The Blackhawks just traded veteran defenseman Jack Johnson to the Colorado Avalanche.
For Anaheim, forward Adam Henrique, goalie Anthony Stolarz and defenseman Urho Vaakanainen are out.

If the Blackhawks aren’t careful, they might play their way out of the Connor Bedard sweepstakes.
Kane has sat out the last two games and team captain Toews hasn’t played since late January. However, Chicago Blackhawks has won five straight games with three wins against teams in playoff position, beating the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars.
Kane was rolling with seven goals in his last four games at the time of his absence from the lineup. That leaves Max Domi as the offensive leader for the Blackhawks. He has four goals and seven assists during the winning streak.

Ducks Finding a Way
It is a bit of a mystery how Anaheim has won its last two games.
The Ducks were outshot 43-21 in a 4-2 win over Washington as Alexander Ovechkin returned to action for the Capitals for the first time in 11 days following the death of his father. Ovechkin was held scoreless despite five shots on goal as John Gibson stopped 41 of 43 shots in the 4-2 win.
Two days later, Carolina had 53 of the 68 shots on goal with Trevor Zegras recording two assists and Troy Terry scoring for the second game in a row after missing 2½ weeks. Gibson was the No. 1 star once again with 51 saves.
Anaheim Ducks won both games despite going scoreless on seven power-play opportunities.
