Bruins to Cover Spread vs Bedard, Blackhawks in Opener
The Boston Bruins will begin their season against the Chicago Blackhawks as they aim to bounce back from their first-round upset in the playoffs in 2022-23. Despite setting multiple NHL records last season, Boston was upset by Florida in the playoffs and will be hoping to go further this season.
Chicago, meanwhile, will try to continue its strong start after winning its season opener against Pittsburgh on Opening Night. However, with the Blackhawks on the second of a back-to-back, NHL picks for Oct. 11 have the Bruins as the favorite.

Blackhawks Start Strong
After landing the top pick in the NHL Draft, Chicago got its 2023-24 season off to a hot start, downing Pittsburgh in a 4-2 comeback victory.
No. 1 overall pick Connor Bedard looked solid in his debut, recording five shots and an assist to help the Blackhawks come back from a 2-0 deficit.
Three of Chicago’s goals came in the third period, with Jason Dicksonson’s score taking the lead late in the period. Petr Mrazek saved 38 shots on a .950 save percentage.
The Blackhawks will be looking to make it two in a row, but they’ll need to get out to a better start against a stronger team in Boston to keep from battling back.
Bruins Celebrate an Anniversary
Boston will be kicking off its 100th season against Chicago and hoping to take advantage of a Blackhawks team that is coming off game one of a back-to-back.
The Bruins had one of their most successful seasons, setting league records for most wins and points in a season, but it ended in disappointment as they saw their 3-1 series lead in the playoffs disappear in a shocking first-round exit.
Boston also went through some changes in the offseason as captain Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci both retired.
It will be a new era for the Bruins, but after a strong 2022-23 campaign and facing Chicago, they should still be slated for a solid season opener.
Blackhawks vs Bruins Betting Lines
Blackhawks vs Bruins Best Bet
Though Boston’s roster will look a little different this season, the sportsbook still has it as a strong favorite against Chicago. With heavy odds in the Bruins’ favor, the best NHL bet for the Oct. 11 matchup between the Blackhawks and Bruins is to take Boston on the puck line.
Chicago was solid in its comeback against the Penguins, but the Bruins are a stronger team than Pittsburgh, even with a different roster. Boston should also be able to take advantage of a Blackhawks team that is likely to be worn down from their comeback effort, and the Bruins will want to come out hot after its playoff upset.
NHL Pick: Boston Bruins -1½ (-130)
