Canadiens vs Jets Betting Preview | New-Look Montreal | Feb. 25

The Montreal Canadiens have been in a funk as of late and that cost head coach Claude Julien his job. In fact, they fired Kirk Muller, the associate coach as well. With just two wins in their last seven, they felt it was time for a change. We’ll see what type of spark that provides when they face the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday. The Jets are on a two-game winning streak and have won six of their last nine contests. Can the Canadiens flip their fortunes around and snap this streak or will the Jets outlast them? Montreal Canadiens

Montreal is sitting at 9-5-4 on the year after a strong start but is coming off back-to-back losses against the Ottawa Senator, with their most recent being a 5-4 shootout loss on Tuesday. This offense has been successful with a number of different players as Jeff Petry leads the team in assists with 10 and has 16 points on the year. Phillip Danault has been able to pick up five assists in their last 10 contests.

It is also worth mentioning that Tyler Toffoli is the current leader in goals scored for the team at 12. Their play hasn’t been enough to help them win consistently and that cost Julien his job. Will that provide a spark, though? We should expect a different Canadiens team to walk onto the ice for this matchup considering the recent changes. One thing is for sure though, they have to clean up their goaltending as they’re allowing 2.8 goals per game on .908 save percentage.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets most recent game ended up being a 4-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks in overtime on Sunday. Now after an extended break from action, they hope to snag another win. They are hoping for another fantastic outing from Pierre-Luc Dubois, who scored two goals against the Canucks and has been a solid player for this team when available. However, Mark Scheifele leads the team in goals with 10, adding on 16 assists as well and totaling 26 points. Neal Pionk has also been improving as the games go by, putting up 10 points in their last 10 games.

The Jets are a team that loves to move the puck around, currently ranking first in the league in assists per game with 6.1. Their goaltending has also been above average in their last few matchups, allowing only 2.3 goals per game on a .928 save percentage. That bodes very well with the team scoring an average of 3.2 goals per game. This is also a team that enters with motivation, sitting in third place in the North Division with an 11-6-1 record. The Canadiens have been miserable and the Jets should keep them that way as they’re the better team.
