Capitals vs St. Louis Blues Game Preview, Live Stream, Odds, Picks & Predictions
Hell has frozen over as the St. Louis Blues are finally supporting a full roster. The Blues will play host to the Washington Capitals as very slight favorites on the NHL odds. Washington will now have to overcome its absences to cash as an underdog. We look at the latest news, stats, and injury reports.
Healthy Blues Look To KO Capitals
St. Louis Finally Has Full Roster
With the exception of defenseman Robert Bortuzzo, the St. Louis Blues are healthy and ready to go. This team has been ravaged by injuries dating all the way back to the 2019-20 season, which would be partly responsible for its struggles.
We’ve seen what a stacked Blues team can do. Vladimir Tarasenko, trade request and all, has been playing his best hockey and leads the team in games played, goals and points. Jordan Kyrou is having an All-Star season, and acquiring Pavel Buchnevich has turned out to be a coup for the Blues.

St. Louis’ offense has been significantly better. Their 3.4 goals per game has the Blues tied at sixth while also tied for the NHL lead in power-play percentage. Defensively, St. Louis can get better, especially on 5v5. But with a fiery offense, the Blues are worth a bet online.
Capitals’ Turn to Overcome Absences
On the flip side, Washington will now be the one having to play through absences. Goaltender Vitek Vanecek is out on quarantine while Nicklas Backstrom and T.J. Oshie are still on the mend (probable to play). Dan Orlov is also listed in the same fashion.
The prolific Capitals have been the most dominant road team on 5v5 and are scoring the eighth-most goals despite a lackluster 11.9 percent success rate on the power play, which ranks 30th overall. Washington is 10-3-3 on the road and 11-5 on the puckline.
Alex Ovechkin is still one of the elite goal scorers and is on pace to score 57 goals and 120 points, the latter of which will be a career high. Much like LeBron James in the NBA, the “Great Eight” is an ageless wonder and is a big reason why the Caps remain popular on the online sportsbook.

Washington Capitals vs St. Louis Blues Prediction
The Blues are slightly favored thanks to having more depth and better special teams, which could be the difference here. Washington has won four of their its five visits to St. Louis, but this will be the best version of the Blues that the Capitals are facing.
St. Louis has won nine of their last 10 home games beating other high-powered teams like Edmonton, Tampa Bay and Florida. Washington will be dangerous throughout, but the Blues also have the firepower to keep up if they can’t contain them.
Pick: St. Louis Blues -115
The Blues have allowed the ninth-fewest goals when playing at home. Hence why four of their last six games at the Enterprise Center have gone under. Even with these teams’ high-scoring meetings in recent seasons, this one should fall below the total.
