Minnesota Wild at Dallas Stars
Wild Wanting to Score
The Minnesota Wild were supposed to be a playoff contender, but they were not expected to be one of the best teams in the NHL. Minnesota comes into Monday night averaging 3.62 goals per game, and has turned into one of the most explosive teams in the NHL.
Kirill Kaprizov has picked up where he left off a season ago, and he leads the Wild with 22 assists and 33 points. Minnesota has done a great job of sharing the wealth on offense, and that has made them a difficult team to defend.
Cam Talbot is also having the best season of his career with a record of 15-6-1. The Wild have done a great job of killing off penalties this season, and that has allowed the offense to play free and take chances on that end of the ice.
Power Play Clicking for Stars
the Dallas Stars have been a difficult team to figure out, but they have been exceptional on the power play. The Stars have converted on nearly 27 percent of their chances on the power play, and they will be a problem for Minnesota if it commits a penalty.
Dallas has been a tough team to figure out, and Jamie Benn recently summed up the struggles for the Stars. Benn said, “I’d say we’re too good of a team to be doing this again and have a losing streak like this.”
The Stars are averaging just 2.64 goals per game, despite having a team that is loaded with weapons. At some point, Dallas is going to figure it all out, and that is going to spell trouble for the rest of the teams in the Central Division.
Stars Get Home Win
Minnesota has been the best team in the Central Division, but it appears that the Wild are starting to come back down to earth. They have lost three straight games, and they are taking on a Dallas team that is looking to build up some momentum.
Dallas has not been a great offensive team, but the pieces are in place for them to really get things going on that end of the ice. Look for the Stars to have a big game on offense as they will get some separation between them and the Wild.
Minnesota is reeling and this is not going to be a chance for the Wild to get things figured out. Dallas will win this game by at lest two goals a pick up its second victory in a row.
