Western Conference Leaders Look to Continue Torrid Point Streak
Colorado on 19-Game Point Run
The Colorado Avalanche welcome their Central Division rivals, the Dallas Stars, on Tuesday night for the second game of their home-and-home set.
The Avalanche are riding a 19-game point streak (17-0-2) that started on Jan. 2 and they’ll be keen to turn in a third straight win overall and second over Dallas to maintain their league-leading point total. Towards that end, bookmakers tip Colorado as the firm home favorites on the NHL odds board.
So, can the Stars return the favor and turn in an upset over their hosts at Ball Arena, or will the Avs skate to yet another victory?

Stars Out for Revenge
The Dallas Stars failed to strike a chord on Sunday, losing to their supreme division leaders 4-0 in front of their fans. It was a lackluster effort all around, but poor defending was the main culprit. Well, that and “too much respect” according to coach Rick Bowness.

The Stars allowed Colorado skaters to swarm the net at will, putting enormous pressure on Dallas goalie Braden Holtby. Both first-period goals against Holtby came this way, with the defense parting like the Red Sea.
The Stars put the Avs under pressure in the second period, outshooting Colorado 14-7. But that was about the only bright statistic in an otherwise forgettable evening. Holtby finished with 26 of 29 saves for a .896 save percentage.
Avs Looking Ahead
Gabriel Landeskog scored twice and Kazim Nazri scored his 20th goal as the pair helped lift their side to the 4-0 victory over the Dallas Stars. Kadri’s 20th goal means the Avs have three players that have scored 20 or more goals this season.

It was a comprehensive win by Colorado with the Avalanche dominating just about every nook and cranny of the ice rink. Nicolas Aube-Kubel added the side’s fourth goal on the night while Cale Makar had two assists and Tyson Jost, Nathan MacKinnon and Valeri Nichushkin all had an assist.
Following the win, the Avs improved to a solid 13-6-2 record on the road. It also marked their 33rd win of the season as the betting online favorite. The Avs are 33-10-4 as the favorites this season. As well, they’re merely 1-2 as underdogs and the over has cashed in 27 of their 46 games (27-15-4).
Stars at Avalanche Head-to-Head
This is the second game in three days between these sides. The Colorado Avalanche won the last meeting 4-0 in the Lone Star State. The victory snapped a five-game losing streak against the Stars that dates back to Nov. 2, 2019.
In the last 10 meetings, the Stars have won five and lost five. On the flip side, the Avs have the 5-4-1 (that includes one overtime loss). The over has gone over in six of the last ten games.
Stars at Avalanche Prediction
Divisional bragging rights will be on the line when the Dallas Stars and the Colorado Avalanche collide on Tuesday night. By the NHL betting markets, the odds are stacked against the Stars. Few believe they have a realistic shot to come up with the upset, although anything can happen.
That said, it’s a big ask to defeat the Avs in Denver. They’re a stellar 21-2-2 at home this season, which is the best record in the league. Home-ice advantage is a real factor in the Mile High City.
The offense is firing at all cylinders and averaging 4.07 goals per game (gpg), which is good for second place after the Carolina Hurricanes (4.09). On the other side, the Avs are allowing 2.83 (gpg) this season (15th). They’re 10th with the man advantage, converting on 24.4 percent of their power-play chances.
One could rattle off more statistics that only highlight Colorado’s advantage further. However, arguably, nothing is as big of a factor as their home-ice advantage where they’re nigh unbeatable.
