Golden Knights to Push Top-Seeded Stars to Brink in Game 3

Despite entering the postseason as a wild card, the Las Vegas Golden Knights have started their quest of defending their Stanley Cup championship in strong fashion. Las Vegas began the Western Conference playoffs on the road against the top-seeded Dallas Stars, but it has been the Knights in control, winning both games in Dallas. The Stars will try to get back in business and steal one back in Vegas, but with the Golden Knights’ strength at home, they’re a good NHL pick to take a commanding lead in the series.

Vegas Takes Talents Back Home

The Golden Knights grabbed the upper hand in the series when they won the first two games of the series on the road, and now they’ll get to take that momentum back home.

Las Vegas has been strong on home ice this season, owning a 27-12-2 record, while it closed out its season by winning four of its final five games at home. The Knights were one of the stronger teams both offensively and defensively in the regular season, scoring 3.21 goals and giving up 2.96 goals a game, but both of those numbers also improved at home. At T-Mobile Center, Las Vegas limited teams to 2.54 goals a game while it scored 3.29 goals a game.

The Knights ended the season hot offensively at home, averaging 4.2 goals a game in their last five. Having already scored seven goals in the two games in Dallas, they should be able to keep that up at home in Game 3.

A Multitude of Scorers

Part of that successful offense for the Knights has been their ability to rely on more than one player to get to the net and score this season.

Although Jonathan Marchessault led Vegas with 42 goals and 69 points in the regular season, it had three players reach at least 30 goals this season while five scored over 50 points. The Knights have scorers all throughout their top three lines, and through their first two games against the Stars, six different players have scored. Marchessault is the only one who has found the back of the net twice yet.

That also includes Noah Hanifin and Tomas Hertl, acquired by Vegas at the trade deadline. They have each scored once so far this series, with Hanifin scoring three points total. With the Knights able to rely on many scorers on their roster and production not dropping off throughout their lineup, their offense should continue to thrive as the series goes on.

Bet on the Golden Knights Taking Commanding Lead

The Stars are in trouble after dropping both of their games at home, and though they will be looking to exact their revenge with a win in Game 3, NHL odds have Vegas as a pick’em on Saturday night.

The Knights’ offense is clicking at the right time, but their defense stepped up in Game 2 as well. Vegas held Dallas to one goal in the second game while goaltender Logan Thompson had a .952 save percentage to earn the win. With the Knights appearing to be firing on all cylinders, and now returning home, they should be able to grab a third win.
