Pivotal Game 3 Matchup as Series Shifts to Winnipeg

Series Knotted at 1-1

After the Winnipeg Jets got a dominant 5-1 victory against the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 1, it looked like this series could be a surprise. Winnipeg couldn’t keep that same momentum in Game 2, getting crushed 5-2.

Now that the series shifts back to Winnipeg, which of these two squads is the best option on the NHL betting lines? Let’s take a closer look.

Jets: Defense Wrecked In Game 2

The Winnipeg Jets drew first blood in Game 2 and it was beginning to look like they could ease to a 2-0 series lead. However, that was the last time they really were in charge of the game.

Those who bet online saw Winnipeg lose by three goals in the end while only scoring once more the remainder of the game. Adam Lowry and Kevin Stenlund each had tallies, with Lowry’s being his third of the series.

Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck saved 34 shots but clearly was nowhere near as sharp as he was in the opener. The defense has to play better because that’s their edge.

Head coach Rick Bowness didn’t hold back on his team after the game. “They were the better team tonight. They deserved to win that game, there’s no question,” he said.

The Jets are a tough team, though, and will fight to bounce back. Morgan Barron took a skate to the face in Game 1 that required over 75 stitches and Hellebuyck took a stick to the face that nearly hit his eye in Game 2. They won’t be intimidated.

Vegas Battles Back

The Vegas Golden Knights closed as a sizable favorite on the NHL lines and things were not looking good at first in Game 2. They were down 1-0 after 20 minutes, but after a stern locker room chat, they turned it around.

Later on in the game, they ripped off three unanswered goals to pull away for a 5-2 win. It was important because the Golden Knights had a tough time getting through Hellebuyck in Game 1.

Mark Stone scored two goals and racked up an assist in just his second game back in the lineup after missing roughly three months. Stone was a huge addition to the roster for this series and should improve their NHL odds.

Laurent Broissoit got the start in Game 2 and, like the rest of the team, played much better. He stopped 31 shots for a .939 save percentage.

The Golden Knights near more efforts like this where the team – as a unit – shows up and delivers. They’re on the road now, so the crowd won’t be behind them, but the good news is they were fantastic away from home this season, going 26-7-8.
