The Vegas Golden Knights invade Dallas looking to go up 3-0 against the Stars. But while the Knights won both games at home, they were both close. As such, the Stars are favored by the NHL lines as they look to keep beating Vegas at home on Tuesday.
The Stars have won their last two home games against the Knights and are 6-3 against them in their last nine games at home or on neutral ice.
Golden Knights Know How to Win
With their win on Sunday, the Vegas Golden Knights improved to 4-0 in one-goal decisions in the postseason. Vegas got a bit of everything – from some clutch playmaking from Jack Eichel to elite netminding from Adin Hill. Both were not with Vegas when the Knights fell to Dallas 4-1 in the 2020 conference finals.

Vegas got it done in the first two games by making the most of its scoring chances. The Knights have continued to stay hot when it comes to converting their opportunities. The team leads the NHL in shooting percentage at 11.6 percent on 5-on-5. Coupled with their goalies averaging a 94.1 save percentage (SV%), it’s no wonder Vegas is +18 on 5-on-5 despite advanced metrics expecting otherwise.
Some folks will bet online against Vegas thinking its stats “average out.” After all, what Vegas is doing does not seem feasible. But it’s tough to fade Vegas right now. The Knights have won five of their last six and remain lucrative NHL picks.
Which Oettinger Shows Up?
It was another heartbreaker for the Dallas Stars as they lost a second straight game in overtime. More concerning is Jake Oettinger’s play in net. Just after we dubbed him as the best remaining goaltender in the playoffs, Oettinger’s two games in the series saw him record SV% under 90 percent.
In fact, since the start of the last round, Oettinger’s SV% is just 87.9 percent. He’s had just one game where he’s stopped over 90 percent of the shots he’s faced in his last four starts. With Oettinger allowing three or more goals in six of his last nine games, Dallas’ offense needs to pick up.
Dallas has scored four or more goals just twice in its last seven games. But the team is 6-1 in the playoffs when it does. Oettinger needs to play to his level for at least this game. Otherwise, Dallas will make NHL news as the latest team to be eliminated.

At this point, you have to take the Knights on the sportsbook. Vegas is just playing with more proficiency on both ends of the ice. Until we can safely rely on Oettinger again, it is better to take the underdog money on Vegas. The Knights know how to finish better and have more consistent playmakers.
