The New York Islanders suffered yet another loss on Wednesday when they fell to the blazing-hot Boston Bruins. It was their second straight defeat and their sixth out of their last seven games.
It’s been a tough journey for them lately and those who have backed them in the sportsbook recently have to be pretty disappointed.

Islanders Having Trouble Lighting the Lamp
Whether under Barry Trotz or now under Lane Lambert, the biggest challenge for New York is its offense. Out of its last seven games, it was held to one goal or less in four of them.
In fact, the Rangers have only been able to score over two goals once in these games. Simply put, this offense hasn’t gotten anywhere as of late. We know they have the defense, but when they’re not winning, it’s because they’re not doing enough offensively.

Buffalo’s Struggles at Defensive End
The Sabres are heading in the opposite direction of the Islanders when it comes to their recent skid. Their offense is strong; it’s the defense that can’t hang.
In their past five losses, they have allowed four goals in each of them. Even the one game they were able to win against the Predators on Jan. 14 saw them surrender three goals in the process.
Three goalies have been able to start at least 12 games for Buffalo, but none have really shined. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stepped up in December with a solid .908 save percentage, but he’s at .898 in January.
He’s allowed at least three goals in eight straight, so those who bet online might want to consider the over here.
