Winnipeg Looks To Extend Series
Vegas One Win From Second Round
The Vegas Golden Knights are a win away from winning their eighth postseason series since coming into the NHL in 2017.
Vegas has won three straight games since Winnipeg, the last team to earn a postseason spot in the Western Conference, stunned the Golden Knights in the series opener.

The Golden Knights have overcome some spotty work on the penalty kill to be on the verge of advancing to the second round. Winnipeg Winnipeg has power-play goals in each of the first four games and is 5 of 12 with the man advantage.
For those making NHL picks, keep in mind that Winnipeg’s 20 road wins during the regular season are the fewest of the eight Western Conference playoff teams.
When looking at some of the NHL news, for Winnipeg, forward Nikolay Ehlers and Mark Scheifele are questionable. The Jets are already without forwards Sam Gagner, Cole Perfetti and defenseman Josh Morrissey.
Forward William Carrier remains sidelined for the Golden Knights.
According to the NHL playoff odds, the Golden Knights (+900) are fifth in the odds to win the Stanley Cup title. Winnipeg is well back at +15000 in the championship odds.
Injuries Mounting for Jets
If the Winnipeg Jets didn’t have bad luck, they wouldn’t have any luck at all.
Defenseman Josh Morrissey, who finished second on Winnipeg with 76 points during the regular season, will miss the rest of the playoffs. Nikolay Ehlers hasn’t played yet in this series and now Mark Scheifele is also dealing with an injury.
It has been that type of season for the Jets as Ehlers missed 37 games, Cole Perfetti was out for 31 games while Pierre-Luc Dubois and Blake Wheeler combined to miss 19 more.
Among the top six scorers, only Kyle Connor appeared in all 82 games during the regular season. Winnipeg has used 20 skaters so far in the playoffs.
The Las Vegas odds total has gone under in four of the last five games played by the Jets.
Eichel Making Most of Playoff Debut
Playing for the Buffalo Sabres, Jack Eichel didn’t get to experience the thrill of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. After being traded to Vegas, he once again missed out on the postseason as the Golden Knights didn’t make it into last season’s playoffs.
Finally getting the chance to play in the postseason, Eichel has scored three times in the first four games of the series. He had a hand in four of the 10 goals scored by Vegas in Games 2 and 3, and that included getting a pair of power-play goals in Game 3.
Eichel leads all Vegas forwards in time on ice as he has been out there for 21:20 per game, one second ahead of Chandler Stephenson.
A surprise star in Game 4 was Brett Howden. He scored twice after not recording a goal in his first six Stanley Cup playoff games.
