Jets vs Stars Game Preview, Odds, Picks & Predictions
Winnipeg Needs a Run...and Fast
Dallas Stars Tend To Shine At Home
Home sweet home it is for the Dallas Stars. Dallas is 17-7-1 in Texas this season and, even though the Stars are coming off a loss, they’ve been playing good hockey over the past month. They’ll look to keep that trend-and a wild-card playoff push-going Wednesday, host the Winnipeg Jets as sizable favorites on the NHL betting lines.
Goaltending’s Been Great for Stars
Though Jake Oettinger wasn’t even on Dallas’ roster at the outset of the season, he has firmly taken over the No. 1 goalie spot, developing into one of the better netminders in the NHL. Oettinger has started seven of the Stars’ last eight games, winning four of his last five decisions. He’s in the top-10 in every major goaltending category.

Dallas hasn’t been an elite team on either end of the ice, but has been able to hang around in the playoff race due in large part due to the play of both Oettinger and Braden Holtby. The latter has been good this season even as he’s ceded a lot of playing time to the 23-year-old Oettinger.
Oettinger wasn’t great in Dallas’ 3-1 loss to the bottom-feeding Arizona Coyotes Sunday, though he saved 24-of-26 shots, so that defeat really wasn’t on him. The Stars losing as huge road favorites was disappointing, but Oettinger has given up three goals or fewer in his last five appearances.
Jets Need To Be More Consistent
The Winnipeg Jets, on the surface, seem to have most of the pieces needed to be a contender in the NHL. They have a proven and experienced goalie in Connor Hellebuyck, a trio of elite goal-scorers (Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele and Pierre-Luc Dubois), and a solid veteran defense group. With that said, the Jets are a mediocre team, having basically alternated wins and losses for the past three weeks or so.
Winnipeg has lost back-to-back games to the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames after winning two games in a row, which exemplifies its season. Winnipeg wasn’t favored in either of those games on the BetUS sportsbook and scored just three combined goals. This after scoring 11 in wins over the potent Minnesota Wild and not-so-potent Seattle Kraken,. It’s tough to figure this team out.
Winnipeg Jets vs Dallas Stars Head-to-Head
The Jets and Stars have split their two meetings this season, the home team winning both, 4-3, in extra time. Winnipeg needed a shootout to prevail in early November as a slight home underdog, while Dallas prevailed on a Jason Robertson overtime goal two weeks ago.

Winnipeg Jets vs Dallas Stars Prediction
If you’re betting online, take the Stars sunless the price gets worse than -160. At that point, it might make more sense to take Dallas on the puck line for the value. That, or pick Dallas to win in regulation.
The combination of the Stars being really good at home and the Jets being inconsistent on the road (9-10-7) bodes well for Dallas, as does Hellebuyck’s hit-or-miss play of late.
The goal total is a little bit lower than one would expect for this game, so the under is also an intriguing potential play. If you’re so inclined to take the under, you could parlay it with the Stars on the moneyline as well.
