Kings Bounce Back

It was a crucial victory after a pair of lopsided losses threatened to bring about a swift end to Los Angeles’ postseason campaign. The Oilers won Games 2 and 3 by a combined scored of 14-2.
The Kings were dominant from first puck drop in key aspects of Sunday’s game. They outshot the Oilers 46-31 their power play finally yielded a score as Los Angeles went 1 of 3 with the man advantage. Finally, the penalty kill was on point, too. The Kings denied the Oilers on all three power plays.
Oilers goalie Mike Smith was superb between the posts, stopping 42 of 45 shots for a .933 save percentage.
Oilers Favored Across Board
The Edmonton Oilers remain the favorites in this series despite being blanked in their last outing.
Current NHL series prices list the Oilers as the -250 favorites to win and advance into the second round. The Kings, by contrast, are priced at +210.
The Oilers opened as the -240 favorites to win the series ahead of Game 1 and the Kings were priced at +200. However, after the Kings won the series opener 4-3, the Oilers dropped down to -115 and the Kings improved to -105.
Charting the series odds further, the Oilers moved back up to -220 after the 6-0 shutout in Game 2 while the Kings’ odds drifted to +180. Then, following the 8-2 win in Game 3, the Oilers rocketed up to a whopping -650 and the Kings plunged to +475.
Following the Kings’ 4-0 win in Game 4, bookmakers re-assessed the market and dropped the Oilers down from -650 to -250. The Kings saw their odds improve to +210 from +475.
It’s clear that the market has yo-yoed between this pair from game to game, but one thing has remained a constant and that’s the favoritism toward the Oilers. All throughout this series, they’ve never fallen behind.
“That’s just the facts… we weren’t anywhere near where we needed to be in some areas. We’re going to address them, we’re going to improve & be ready for Game 5.”

Kings vs Oilers Prediction
With the series delicately poised 2-2, Game 5 is hugley significant because a victory would move the winner to within a game of advancing into the next round.
Edmonton has the home-ice advantage and that puts the Oilers in a good position to take the series lead before a sellout crowd at Rogers Place. Losing to the Kings in Los Angeles on Sunday will provide added incentive for this very important game.
That said, the Oilers are shouldering the weight of expectation as both the home favorites and the series favorites. That’s a massive burden.
On the flip side, the Kings will be buoyed after winning Game 4 and resurrecting their playoff hopes. However, the job is not done yet. They face a big ask at Rogers Place on Tuesday night and if the betting online odds were any indication, the prognosis isn’t encouraging.
That said, the Kings have been playing with house money since the series started. They’ve held their own in this series despite the odds.
Everything about this matchup makes this a right toss-up for NHL picks. If Game 4 was physical, then this game has the potential to be even more so. The Kings are the value play here but, perhaps, the under might be the smartest bet after all.
Pick: Los Angeles Kings +175
Pick: Under 6½ (-115)
