Kings Missed Opportunity
The Los Angeles Kings went into this series as the conspicuous underdogs, but they’ve punched above their perceived weight class and given the highly fancied Edmonton Oilers a run.
The Kings stunned the Oilers in Game 1 to take the 4-3 victory. Losses in Games 2 and 3 were hefty as the Oilers outscored the Kings 14-2, but the Kings bounced back admirably in Game 4, shutting out the Oilers 4-0 to level the series.
The tipping point for the Kings came in Game 5 when they rallied to clinch the 5-4 win in overtime. That put Los Angeles in the driver’s seat with a chance to eliminate the Oilers at the Crypto.com in Game 6.
Tale told, things didn’t go to plan for the hosts. The Oilers came out with clear-minded purpose and intent, dealing the Kings a tough 4-2 loss to send this series back to the Great White North.

Oilers Carry Weight of Expectation
The Edmonton Oilers have been known in the past to fall short of expectations. Flatter to deceive, if you will. But in Game 6, they answered some of their toughest critics with a series-saving 4-2 win in Los Angeles.
Evander Kane had two goals and an assist, Connor McDavid added a goal and two assists while Tyson Barrie scored the go-ahead goal to help lift the Oilers to victory and force Game 7 at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
Mike Smith has another outstanding night between the posts, stopping 30 of 32 shots. Following Barrie’s go-ahead goal in the third period with 14:50 left in the game, Smith doubled down. In his last two games, Smith had allowed eight goals combined, but there were no cracks in his defense on Thursday night.

Kings vs Oilers Head-to-Head
This series has had a little bit of everything, from explosive offense to stout defense. Both sides have won home and away and back-to-back games. As well, both goalies have served up shutout victories.
The total has oscillated between the OVER and UNDER from game to game. As it is, the betting the total is split evenly 3-3. Interestingly, the OVER has hiit in odd-numbered games (Game 1, 3, & 5) and the UNDER has hit in even-numbered games (Games 2, 4 & 6). If this betting online trend holds true, expect a veritable scoring feast on Saturday night!

Kings vs Oilers Prediction
This has been one of the most engaging and hotly contested series in the Western Conference first-round with momentum swings, back-and-forth action and moments of pure magic. It’s unfortunate that for one team Game 7 will represent the end of the road and, equally, the culmination of their quest for the Stanley Cup this season.
Will it be the much favored Edmonton Oilers that deliver the win at home as per the NHL odds or will the Kings serve up one final upset on the road to clinch this series? [Insert dramatic shiver].
Betting the moneyline is a right tossup because both teams have accounted so well to reach this point. Contrary to the odds, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if either of these teams advanced.
Consensus NHL betting is leaning toward the Oilers, but they’re merely 3-9 SU as the betting favorite in their last 12 playoff games. Six of those are from this series and the Oilers are merely 3-3 SU as the favorites. Technically, they have a 50% chance of coming through with the win in Game 7.
The Kings failed to deliver the coup de grace 6 at home, but let’s decide to under-react to the defeat. After all, they’ve got a second crack at it. They won the first and fifth games of this series at Rogers Place, both of which were key victories. Well, there is no victory more key than in Game 7!
So, as the +180 underdogs, the Kings are a very tempting bet to pull off the upset win. However, for those bettors on the fence, perhaps a wager on the OVER in total betting is the smarter option.
Pick: Los Angeles Kings +180
Pick: Over 6½ Even
