The Seattle Kraken look to end their six-game losing streak when they play host to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. The Kraken face a tough task against goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, but are a sneaky play as an underdog to be among your hockey picks for tonight.
Seattle outshot New Jersey 38-17 on Thursday, but absorbed a 2-1 setback. The Kraken are 0-5-1 in their last six with a total of 10 goals, but may have found the right opponent Saturday. Tampa Bay is giving up 4.29 per game on the road — tied for last in the league.
Tye Kartye had the only goal in the loss to New Jersey as Seattle dropped to 4-7-1 at home. The Kraken was 20-17-4 at Climate Pledge Arena last season. Seattle won 4-3 in overtime at Tampa Bay on Oct. 30 – its first win in the series after being outscored 17-4 in the first four.
The Lightning had put together two solid performances with wins over Dallas and Pittsburgh at home early in the week — allowing one total goal, But they gave up two power-play tallies and an empty netter Thursday in a 5-1 loss at Nashville.
Tampa Bay – currently out of playoff position – is +1100 in the Vegas hockey odds to win the Eastern Conference.
Lightning’s Special Teams Key ATS Bet
Tampa Bay went 0-for-4 on the power play in Nashville and only killed one of three tries by the Predators. That, along with a great performance from goalie Juuse Saros, led to the Bolts’ demise.
The Lightning are second in the league on the power play at 30.5% and have been decent while killing penalties (11th). Seattle struggles on the penalty kill at 75.6%, so the Kraken must stay out of the box.
Right wing Nikita Kucherov leads the league with 44 points, but was held off the scoresheet for the first time in 12 games Thursday despite six shots on net. Alex Barre-Boulet scored the only goal against Nashville and Anthony Cirelli had an assist – his fourth point in three contests.
It always comes down to defense if you bet online in Lightning games. Vasilevskiy, who sat out Thursday’s game, has allowed 15 goals in six outings – six in the 8-1 loss at Dallas last Saturday.
Bettors are 13-13 ATS on the Lightning and the over-under in their games is dead even as well.
Kraken Need Offense To Get Bettors Paid
Seattle finished last season fourth in the league in goals per game (3.52), but a big part of its slow start in 2023-24 is a dormant offense.
The Kraken are currently 29th in the league at almost one goal less per contest (2.59), despite being in the middle of the pack in shots on net (30.8). One player has more than eight goals in the first 27 games (Jared McCann, 12).
“Obviously, right now, it’s not working,” Seattle forward Alex Wennberg told reporters after the loss to New Jersey. “But I feel like the belief is in the team. We’re all together here, and we’re finding something. We’re going to grow from this and become better, and right now we’ve got to find a way to get the first one. After that, we’re going to keep rolling.”
Defenseman Vince Dunn leads the team with 21 points and it won’t help that forwards Jaden Schwartz (eight goals) and Andrei Burakovsky are out with injuries.

Best Bets for Lightning vs Kraken
It sure is difficult to go against Vasilevskiy since the Russian is 4-0-0 in his career against Seattle with a .961 save percentage.
If the Lightning can find the form they had against Dallas and Pittsburgh in the consecutive wins earlier this week, they could be an NHL best bet ATS. But Tampa Bay has really struggled on the road defensively and the Kraken are due to find some luck on the offensive end. While there is not much value with Seattle ATS, a moneyline bet could make an impact on your wallet at the sportsbook.
