Avalanche Hope for Better on Home Ice In Game 7
Kraken Go after Big Upset
The Colorado Avalanche look to put a tumultuous Western Conference quarterfinal series behind them and move on when they host the pesky Seattle Kraken in a deciding Game 7 on Sunday night.
The defending Stanley Cup champion Avalanche avoided an early exit from the playoffs with a 4-1 victory at Seattle on Friday in Game 6, but have won just once in three tries at Ball Arena in Denver during the series.

Reigning Norris Trophy-winning defenseman Cale Makar missed the Game 5 loss due to suspension, but came back with two assists and a +3 rating in the Game 6 triumph. Colorado is still without top-line forward Valeri Nichushkin for personal reasons and top-six defenseman Josh Manson is questionable with an injury.
Seattle, playing in its first playoff series in the second year as a franchise, is 28-12-4 on the road this season overall and 52-36 ATS in NHL odds.
Colorado is 4-1 currently in NHL live betting to win the West, while the Kraken are at 13-1.
Kraken Confident
Seattle managed 23 shots on net in Game 6 and allowed 39 to the Avalanche, but goalie Philipp Grubauer kept the Kraken in the contest until the final minute.
Defenseman Vince Dunn opened the scoring for Seattle, which has recorded the first goal in all six games of the series. Defenseman Justin Schultz and forward Jaden Schwartz each have five points in the series to top the Kraken, who have gotten at least a goal from 14 players.
Seattle has missed leading scorer Jared McCann (70 points in regular season) the last two games after Makar’s illegal hit, which led to the suspension. McCann is questionable for Game 7.
The Kraken are winning the special teams battle, killing off 17 of 18 power plays by the Avs and scoring three times in 21 tries with the extra man.
The under is 5-0 in the last five Seattle road games and 8-1 in the past nine overall in the sportsbook.
Avalanche Stars Shine
Mikko Rantanen had a goal to go along with an assist and Nathan MacKinnon was a +3 with seven shots on net in Friday’s win for Colorado.
Rantanen leads all players in the series with nine points and MacKinnon has six (with a +9 rating) while fellow forward Artturi Lehkonen had two goals Friday and veteran defenseman Erik Johnson scored for the first time since May 23, 2022.
Nichushkin, who had 47 points in 53 regular-season games, is not likely to be in the lineup for the fifth straight game.
The @denverpost can report Valeri Nichushkin was involved in a police incident at #Avs team hotel in Seattle, resulting in a woman who was found intoxicated in his room being transported to hospital for medical treatment. Nichushkin left Seattle that day. https://t.co/Hbyxm7OXaw

The under is 4-0-1 in the last five Colorado home games and 5-1-0 overall, according to NHL betting lines. The Avalanche are now +800 (tied for fourth lowest) in odds to win the Stanley Cup.
Kraken vs Avalanche Game Injuries
Kraken vs Avalanche Head-to-Head
This series is not as much of a surprise if you look at the regular-season meetings.
Seattle had two wins and a shootout loss in those contests – both victories coming in Denver by one goal.
Grubauer, the former Avalanche goalie, has a .919 save percentage in the series and had a 1.70 goals-against average in the regular season against his old teammates. Alexandar Georgiev owns a .913 SP in his first playoff series with Colorado.
The under is 9-1-0 in the last 10 meetings according to NHL odds and 5-1 in the series.

Kraken vs Avalanche Picks and Prediction
Seattle has not backed down from any challenge all season and the Kraken should not be expected to do so Sunday, despite a disappointing home loss in Game 6.
The Kraken are 11-3-1 in their last 15 road contests, dating back to the regular season if you are online gambling, and allowed a combined six goals in three games at Denver in the series.
But Colorado will be hard to beat on home ice again, with Rantanen, MacKinnon and Makar leading the way. Seattle must get a big game from rookie Matty Beniers, who has just one goal in the series after registering 57 points in the regular season.
While the Kraken have been a great bet all season ATS, we’ll take the Avalanche to find a way on Sunday and the dam to break on offense..
The Kraken are listed at +180 in our Las Vegas hockey odds. This means that if you wager $100 on Seattle, you have a chance to win 180. The Avalanche are -220, offering a chance to win $45 on a $100 wager.
The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives the Kraken a 35.71% chance to win, with Colorado at 68.75%.
