Tampa Bay Has Won Eight of Last 10

Will Canucks Cash as Big Dogs Again?

The Vancouver Canucks were a huge underdog against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday but still managed to spring a surprise in the sportsbook. Will they do it again and provide some value for those making their NHL picks on Wednesday?

They’ll host the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have won four straight games and eight of their last 10 overall. The Lightning are favored but will they deliver for those who bet online?

Tampa Bay Among League’s Top Teams

Since starting 7-6-1, Tampa Bay has been one of the best teams in the league, winning 21 of its last 28 and clicking at both ends of the ice.

The Lightning have a very dangerous offense, led by a few key standouts across their roster. Coming into this matchup, they currently rank fifth in the league in goals scored per game.

Much of this can be thanks to Nikita Kucherov, one of the best points scorers that the league has to offer. Kucherov paves the way with 62 points this season, with Steven Stamkos trailing closely behind him with 49 points of his own.

This group also has the privilege of relying upon their goaltending if the offense can’t keep up. Andrei Vasilevskiy is 20-10-1 with a 2.45 GAA and a .918 save percentage.

He’s tied for the fourth-best record, the 10th-best GAA and the eighth-best save percentage in the NHL. He’s really played well over the last month after having a slow start to the season.

Canucks Searching for Answers

Thatcher Demko hasn’t been playing all that well this season, but his loss still appears to be wearing down Vancouvernow. With him still being out of commission, other goaltenders have been forced to step up… and they haven’t.

Spencer Martin has been one of those guys. He’s 11-10-1 on the year with a 3.76 GAA and a .880 save percentage to go with it. In fact, Martin has put up his worst monthly numbers all season throughout December and now into January.

In just December, he raised his GAA to 3.83 and his save percentage dropped to .871. These are all season lows compared to other previous months. This is among the league’s worst defensive teams, which makes it tough to bet on them on Wednesday.

Lightning vs Canucks Picks & Prediction

This looks fairly easy for NHL picks on paper as Tampa Bay is not only on an absolute tear right about now but has been the better offense and defense this season when healthy.

Vancouver picked up a rare win on Sunday but has mostly been a bad team. The Canucks might put up a fight against the Lightning here, but it’s hard to see them coming out on top. It should also be a high-scoring game, so consider the over.

Tampa Bay is listed at -175in our Vegas lines. This means that if you wager $100 on the Lightning, you have a chance to win $57. Vancouver is +155, offering a chance to win $155 on a $100 wager.
