NHL Betting Odds Today: Bet on Blue Jackets to Cover in Home Opener 10/15
- Emotions will be high when Columbus honors the life of former star forward Johnny Gaudreau and his brother in Tuesday’s home opener.
- Jack Eichel of the Vegas Golden Knights looks to add to his NHL-leading point total.
- Check the latest NHL odds as seven of the nine home teams are favored on Monday.
Say a prayer for NHL goalies as there were seven multi-goal scorers in the six games played on Monday. Four of the six games landed over the total, led by Josh Norris’ overtime goal that gave the Ottawa Senators a wild 8-7 win over the Los Angeles Kings.
Two of the nine road teams are listed by the NHL betting line as favorites on Tuesday, with the Carolina Hurricanes, Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators, San Jose Sharks, Vancouver Canucks and Washington Capitals looking for their first wins this season.
When looking at the NHL injury report, New Jersey Devils defenseman Brett Pesce is questionable to be on the ice to face his former team when the Devils play at the Carolina Hurricanes. Minnesota’s Joel Eriksson Ek is another key player to monitor heading into Tuesday’s action.
Let’s look at my NHL picks today for Tuesday’s action.
3 Ways to Bet on Tonight’s NHL Games
1. Can Emotion Lead Blue Jackets to Upset Win?
It figures to be quite the emotional scene for the fans at Nationwide Arena in the first home game of the regular season since the death of star Blue Jackets winger Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew.
There have been numerous tributes to Gaudreau, a star first with the Calgary Flames and then in his two seasons in Columbus. It will be a different deal with the Columbus fans getting the chance to honor the popular player known as Johnny Hockey. Gaudreau’s father was in attendance at Monday’s practice and is expected to be at Tuesday’s game.

“I said to him, ‘Anytime you want to come out, you’re more than welcome,’” Columbus head coach Dean Evason told the media. “He said, ‘Well, are you having a morning skate tomorrow?’ He just wants to be around and it’s fantastic.”
Columbus hasn’t played since topping Colorado 6-4 as Yegor Chinakov, Kirill Marchenko and Sean Monahan each had three points.
The visiting Florida Panthers are coming off a 4-3 win over the Boston Bruins and are priced by the NHL spread at -153 to win. The combination of Florida playing on back-to-back days and the Blue Jackets having plenty of inspiration could be enough to go with the Blue Jackets to hang around.

2. Can Jack Eichel Keep It Going?
The more time that goes on, the better the Vegas Golden Knights‘ trade for Jack Eichel is looking.
Buffalo acquired forwards Alex Tuch and Peyton Krebs from Vegas along with a first-round pick and a second-round selection in exchange for Eichel. Tuch has four points in four games this season and 60 goals since the start of the 2022-23 season, but Krebs has just 20 goals (none so far this season) and 46 assists in 205 games.

Eichel leads the NHL with seven points in his first three games to give him 73 goals and 93 assists since landing in Vegas. He will look to add to that total in NHL player props when the Golden Knights play in Washington on Tuesday. Visiting Vegas has -135 odds to become the first team in the NHL to go 4-0.
Bet on Jack Eichel to Record 1+ Assists (-143)
3. NHL Parlay Bet for Tuesday
The Edmonton Oilers have been outscored 12-3 in their first three games of the season. Any team led by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl can break out at any point.
When looking at NHL trends, keep in mind that the last four times that the Philadelphia Flyers played at Edmonton, at least six goals were scored so look for this game to land over the 6.5-goal total.
Watching San Jose play without injured rookie Macklin Celebrini is a reminder of why the Sharks had the No. 1 pick in the most recent draft to select Celebrini. Even though Dallas has defeated San Jose by more than one goal just twice in the last 13 meetings, go with Dallas to cover at -1.5 on the puck line.
The Washington Capitals allowed five goals in its season opener and Game No. 2 comes against a Vegas team with 15 goals in three games. Roll with the Golden Knights at -135 to win outright to wrap up the three-legged parlay.
Put these three NHL bet predictions together in a parlay bet for a potentially big win.
